She single-handedly made music videos great again in pop culture, she brought that Michael Jackson's "Thriller" vibe back for this century. She is known for videos that raised the bar. 

I'm not saying that she SHOULD release movie-like videos for every song, on every album. It is of course healthy for an artist to strip it down and chill for a while. But she had Joanne, Million Reasons, the Jazz videos, etc, she had her break. 

If "Stupid Love" was supposed to be her return to camp visuals... it feels correct, I do not think it is bad. But it is significantly below her standard on that field. 

She has A LOT of great videos, but half of her videos aren't more than Stupid Love (which I love). 

It's all about one's opinion, but I'm pretty sure that Bad Romance is the ONLY video that wouldn't get dragged by many fans if it was released today. People would have something negative to say about literally any other video that she's released. 

 

I don't mean to not validate your opinion, but I think you should wait before stating these things. Because once again, everything that we all consider to be iconic today used to divide the fanbase as well. 

The Bad Romance leak and release were a total mess, when Gaga revealed the covers for TFM it was a mess, I won't even talk about anything Born This Way or ARTPOP related

But you could say Telephone is super camp and ridiculous, yet most hail it as one of her best. Not every video of hers has to be a highly artistic thing like Alejandro and MTN, it can be camp and still be good like Telephone and John Wayne. I won’t say SL bc you obviously didn’t like it, but imo it was pretty good campy fun as well. Not her best, but far from her worse.

I disagree, as you are evidently taking into consideration videos from her pre- "Paparazzi" era, when she had no budget to do any better. "Just Dance", "Eh, Eh, Nothing Else I Can Say", "Beautiful, Dirty, Rich" and "Poker Face" cannot be analyzed ignoring this context. 

She would've made bigger, better videos for "Just Dance" and "Poker Face" if she had the financial support from her label that she has now. Specially considering how creative and ambitious she was back then. 

After "Poker Face" explotion, she only released high-quality videos, and stripped down releases were exceptions, not the standard. "Million Reasons" and "Joanne" are not her standard.

I agree that GaGaDaily in particular has always been toxic during her releases. But the difference is that their arguments were invalid back then, and they were wrong, but now they do have valid points, actually. 

Little Monsters complaining about "Alejandro" for being "too gay" was of course laughable, as that is not a valid argument. However, little monsters claiming "Stupid Love" to be underwhelming for not being elaborate enough, is valid criticism. 

You can't simplify it by being: "monsters complain about everything anyways". Yes, they do, but this time they had valid arguments, that's the thing

I'm not really talking about nostalgia, it's more like negativity that comes from expectations

If Telephone was released today, I'm 100% sure that there would be threads about how it looks cheap or messy. 

Gaga always does the unexpected, so we tend to expect things more than other fanbases

To each their own I get it, to me Marry The Night was the peak of her artistry - visionary, creative, daring, captivating, beautifully executed.

To be honest if Telephone was to be released today, it wouldve shook the earth I think, sure it is campiness and tackiness but done in a proper and professional way so that everyone gets it is those things instantly. Once the artist is forced to explain the art, it is no longer art. Besides, theres nothing tacky about stupid love's mv, if anything its just cheap and not in a campy, fun, loose way, just cheap and unimaginative...Plus the whole tribes concept is just so lazy, im sorry.

Are we really comparing Telephone to Stupid Love? The difference between those two is gigantic.

You’re dragging the ROM vid based on this description, so I’m assuming you do so bc it sounds ridiculous yet Telephone is also super ridiculous once you look at it, it’s just very well done. So I say we wait for ROM before we jump to conclusions based on descriptions that may or may not be true.

Actually true, I was just frustrated because so far everything Gaga has been doing was underwhelming TO ME.
