Gaga knows about this look, obvi. So how in the world can her dressing up in a purple leather jacket with a leotard and boots under it not be a reference and/or a tribute, especially when she styled her hair similarly ánd wore sunglasses like Madonna did? A leotard, leather, sunglasses, and a wig that's not in a 70's Farrah Fawcett curl. You're right! That's spot on! And you know what? Every other look from Gaga that's compromised of a leotard, leather, sunglasses, and a wig that's not styled like Farrah Fawcett's iconic 70's curls is undoubtedly also lifted from some Madonna look! I don't get why some of you guys are so willfully deluded about this. She wore this in 2009 lol, just four years after Madonna's Confessions era. Everyone who was old enough to observe that era instantly recognizes this look. It's literally like another pop star would wear a meat dress and those fans would say "well, erm, Gaga wasn't the first one to do a meat dress!!! It's not like she invented meat!!!" No one is saying Madonna invented any of her look's component. But Gaga is/was a MAJOR Madonna fan and so are/were her stylists. There is no ****ing way she accidentally slapped an identical look together. No way.

Their ignorance about everything before 2008 is nauseating.

But tbh, Gaga's done that a couple of times too so I wouldn't think too much of it. It's not unintelligent either. The more internet traffic occurs because LMs are upset about her "copying" Gaga the more buzz for her Works similarly to the intentional "Illuminati" visuals in mv's. I'm sure that was the purpose of a lot of Gaga's early shenanigans too (dressing up as Madonna on the MB 2.0 etc.). Still don't like her though so I hope it doesn't work and she just goes away Imo a generous interpretation, but I certainly agree with the latter sentiment We have forgotten our public MANNERS

Whenever she did reference Madonna she turned it on its head and added a quintessentially Gaga touch, like the shoulderpad jacket. That could still work today But yeah it would be odd after all of her comments Still, I would live Those sunglasses are iconic!

Gaga’s work has always been in conversation with the past and her influences. She literally emulated Bowie’s iconic Aladdin Sane lightening bolt in one of her first music videos, y’all. Those references are not accidental and just because they’re not accidental it doesn’t make them theft, either.
