Obviously this is not Gaga’s fault and the blame should go to lack of departmental communication on her team, but regardless, it was in very poor taste and some public backlash, in my opinion, was warranted. Franch Toast 26,855 Posted March 25, 2020 Share Posted March 25, 2020 I love most Haus Labs products, and I've spent hundreds on almost every single Glam Attack, plus both eyeliners, and too many lip glosses to count, but they made a misstep today. It's unfortunate timing that they released this promotion the same day that Gaga announced Chromatica's postponement, but more significantly, I wish they would clarify their labor practices. It's incongruous for them to have a post featuring a photograph of a Zoom chat that promotes social distancing and working from home and then to have another one peddling their bundle of Gaga's favorites when the people packing and shipping these products presumably aren't working from home (unlike the white-collar employees in the company), and makeup is not essential. Are these orders being fulfilled by Amazon employees who'd be working anyway (which would be a loophole around the shelter-in-place command, because Amazon workers are considered "essential" even if they're not fulfilling orders for "essential" items)? Are they being fulfilled by HL employees working from home? Or is HL violating California's shelter-in-place order by having their employees fulfill these orders from a warehouse? I'm disappointed in them, but they make good products. I hope Gaga isn't dragged for this, because she has enough pitchforks directed at her over the album delay, and she doesn't deserve more hate just because the HL marketing team perhaps evinced a lapse in judgment. By comparison, a small business that I buy a lot of dresses from that's based in New York sent out an email after Governor Cuomo issued an order that's similar to sheltering in place that said they'd be pausing fulfillment to comply with government orders and help flatten the curve, but if customers wanted to order something now and wait until restrictions loosened for it to be shipped, they'd offer a 20% discount. I found this very thoughtful, since it's a way to offer something a deal to their customers without breaking the law and without putting people in danger.
