Calling yourself communist doesn't make you communist. North Korea calls itself democratic, doesn't mean it is. Communist doesn't mean state controlled. That's authoritarian and both left and right can be that.

Communism as an ideology requires there to be no state. It's anarchist. Therefore, countries like the USSR that claimed to have communism were instead at most authoritarian socialist. Not communist.

True however every source starting from history books and materials used by students at schools statea and acknowledges that URSS& others have been communist states. Communism, fascism and nazims are real and happened.

In the case of communism, it's attempts at communism that happened. The revolutions were real but they were hijacked by dictators who instead did it for power and were authoritarian. Once the dictators came into power, it became more like an authoritarian partly socialist regime, not a communist one. Communism as defined by Marx, the inventor, is literally incompatible with anything that happened in China or the USSR.
