why, what, how:saladga:

Because imo it did not paint her in a good light. It made her seem hollow and fake.

Her entire existence is built upon getting people to like her. She even straight forwardly admits this in the documentary, and every single thing she does throughout the entire thing only supports that.

Her whole crying about being on the "right side of history" straight up reads as "oh I've remained silent for so long in order to receive unbiased acclaim, but now people are getting pissed I'm not picking a side so in order to maintain everyone adoration, or at least one side since I now have to choose, I need to voice my opinion on what I interpret will be the winning side".

And oh my god, the sheer entitlement and narcissism jumped out when she was literally UPSET that her album didn't get any of the "main" nominations. Getting nominated for ANY should be an honor, and she's literally upset that her subpar album didn't once again sweep the main awards? :awkney:

I'm sorry. She has the occasional good song (last two albums notwithstanding), and she might be an actual nice person, but if that documentary was supposed to be an honest look into who she is...:neyde:

Just about every single time she has controversy, which seems to be one of the few ways she can manage to stay on people's radars, it always ends up being tied to some new release she has, or some form of promotion.

She can't sit there and complain that people think she's calculated and fake and then proceed to make a documentary showcasing that her every move is built around what people think of her.

I hope it wasn't the intention, or it displayed her in a way that wasn't how it was supposed to, but that was my reaction.

Ok, but the whole premise of the documentary is that she over comes that and comes out stronger because of it. And I don't think that wanting people to like you is a bad thing.

She was crying about being on the right side of history because her whole team said, no, don't do it and she obviously felt very passionately about the issue. And I don't think that it reads like that more that everyone should have basic human rights regardless of gender or sexuality. It was her team who were worried about people not liking her because of her political beliefs not her.

And I think anyone would be disappointed when they had one of the biggest albums and biggest comeback in a while to not be nominated for anything. And not because it was big but also because she puts her emotions, mind and being into her albums and for that it not to be nominated for anything would be sad for anyone, not just her. And it's my favourite album by her.

If you don't like her songs, that's fine, I can't change your mind about that, I just hope you have listened to both albums in full and not just the singles because they are bad choices which don't represent the whole album (I know that they should, but they don't...)

We all know that the only reason people stay relevant is through drama, breaking records or releases. Nobody really likes to giver her the credit she deserves so the only reason you are going to her about her is because of a release or drama. In the drama she is usually correct and she doesn't always use the drama for her releases (even though it's a smart business move and shouldn't be discredited).

And when you are in the public eye a lot of what you do and say is going to be based around if people will like you after or not. That's not being fake, that's being smart and how you have some longevity in your career. If she didn't at least have that in the back of her mind should would just be Trisha Paytas.

I'm sorry if you had a different understanding and reading of the film which painted her in a bad light for you. I do genuinely think she is a good person who is trying her best with millions of people watching everything she does.
