honestly i dont fault him for this. I know several people who have been turned away from getting a test even when they were showing symptoms, because they are not at-risk for serious illness and have not exposed themselves to [many] others. The US government is to blame, not him.

He did right thing. Honestly this is like any other diseases, you wont go directly to your doctor if symptoms arent bad. 

If he stays home, thats the important step. The pneumonia usually kicks in after 2 weeks, if it really gets to that point. Hes probably gonna be fine

He may not have had a choice in getting tested. A lot of locations are limiting testing to individuals showing symptoms, and in some cases like here in Delaware now you have to contact your physician first and get a referral because there aren’t enough kits available overall.

He's doing the right thing . If you have symptoms but are young and healthy,  just self-quarantine.

How are some of you dragging him for this? He's saying he most likely has it but he's staying and getting treatment for his symptoms instead of taking the possibility of getting tested away from somebody that might actually need it in order to receive care and treatment, for example old and vulnerable people with existing health conditions. Sad reality is that a large number of us might get it and not everyone is going to be able to cope with it. I know that if I start showing symptoms I will stay the **** indoors and will most certainly not be searching for a test.

I get intentions and its honorable he is being considerate of low supplies and providing those with worse health issues to get tested. 

Plus, if he think he has it and is isolating...that's the best he can do. The hospitals cant cure you yet

one way of alternate testing is by donating blood and getting it tested... that's the only way of knowing if your infected or have been infected.

Actually my brother is really sick too. Doctor said he has limited kits and they sent him to home.

He lives alone for masters degree. Away from hometown. He cant drive, or busses dont allow sick people.

I m really worrying over it. He is all alone...

I don't know why everyone here is dragging him. He did the right thing. If you have very mild symptoms, stay your ass at home and self isolate. The healthcare system is overwhelmed enough.

I love him tbh, I don't get why people are saying this is idiotic. Thats what most people are doing anyways. If you know you have symptoms you can either get tested which you have to meet a certain criteria in the U.S because if the shortage or just self isolate. Most people are choosing to self isolate because they don't wanna risk infecting others. It isn't "dumb logic" its just him saying "eh lemme just get this **** over with"

This is what healthcare professionals are telling people to do now in my state. They only are testing those with symptoms at high risk because there aren’t enough tests. And unfortunately, even the tests we do have take over a week to get results on.
