Canada Health Minister: Se Penalties Could Be Coming For Quarantine Failure

Canada's Health Minister Patty Hajdu said that she is displeased with many Canadians poor compliance with mandatory quarantines (such as those returning from another Country) or simply those not following advice of staying home when not necessary.

 

 

The minister stated that if the population cannot show that they can be trusted to voluntarily stay home when not necessary, or to quarantine when individuals are told they must, it would consider implementing much harsher measures as well as disciplinary action for those who fail to comply

 

The health Ministry has the ability to invoke the "Quarantine Act" which gives it a Federal Power to put additional restrictions as they see fit and severely penalize individuals who fail to comply including hefty fines or even jail time

I saw the interview on the news and she was not happy at all

 

Then it showed videos of people in Vancouver enjoying the sunshine on benches in large groups. What the hell are people doing

GOOD.

I live in Vancouver and have been feeling so much anger and irritation. 

However we are about to get a long stretch of cloudy rainy weather which I’m hoping will keep a lot of people indoors.

It is just my opinion but the city and provincial govts have been way too laid back and relaxed and have not been issuing orders strongly enough. Individuals and businesses who don’t comply and act responsibly need to be punished and that’s that.

Good. We had somebody come in to a laboratory for blood testing (for something routinely done for diabetics, meaning it is not urgent and could be done in a couple weeks) and he arrived from Turkey last Tuesday. We told him he should self isolate and do the test after 14 days and he got angry. He said "nobody told him". The dumb **** somehow managed to avoid news, social media alerts and the entire province going on lockdown since Monday. I swear some people don't have any functional brains.

As they should...threaten people with fines...peoples "freedom and usual luxuries" are not essential at this moment

As long as I’m able to go for my daily hour long walk outside (by myself) then hell yes they should. 
 

My friend got mad at me because I wouldn’t go hang out with her, so maybe this will send the message even harder.
