New Zealand going into Level 4 lockdown.

It was just announced that New Zealand has moved to Level 3 lockdown and in 48 hours will be in Level 4 lockdown. 

We currently have 102 confirmed cases.

WHAT LEVEL 3 MEANS

Level 3 means limited travel in areas with clusters of Covid-19 cases, affected educational facilities closed, mass gatherings cancelled, public venues closed (such as libraries, museums, cinemas, food courts, gyms, pools, amusement parks), some non-essential businesses closed, and non face-to-face primary care consultations, with non-elective services and procedures in hospitals deferred.

Level 4 means people instructed to stay at home, schools and universities closed, as well as non-essential businesses, major reprioritisation of health services, and severely limited travel.

"All indoor and outdoor events cannot proceed. In short, we are all now preparing as a nation to go into self-isolation in the same way we have seen other countries do. Staying at home is essential."

That would give the health system a chance to cope, she said.

WHAT LEVEL 4 MEANS

While in alert level 4, Ardern said contact tracing would continue and testing would go on "at pace" to find out where cases are.

If we flush out cases we already have, and slow down transmission, areas could move out of level 4, she said.

Community transmission had a lag time, and these measures would be in place for at least four weeks, she said.

She repeated that pharmacy products will still be available, and supermarkets would stay open.

I'm in New Zealand so obviously lockdown is only just starting for me today also. 

I'm actually kind of glad it happened because before it felt like everything was just getting dragged out.  I'm very lucky that I'm fine. I don't have kids, a mortgage, care repayments, a lot of bills, I live with my dad so if need be he'd reduce my rent. But the ladies I work with (we're hairdressers) have all of those bills, and two are South African immigrants who have strict rules around where they can work. We were reduced to 10 hours a week and they were almost unable to pay their bills. My friend who works at Hobbiton was told on Friday not to come in on Saturday because every worker at Hobbiton has been laid off. She has a kid and bills to pay. But now we can all apply for a supplement which is amazing. And hopefully there will be a pause on some repayments and interest.

 

We are so, so lucky that our government has put aside $12billion to help supplement us while we are out of work. So commendable.

I'm a huge introvert so as long as the internet doesn't slow down too much I'm gonna be just fine. And I can get some fresh air because I live right next to a river walk. But I just hope my dad and I can avoid murdering each other being locked together for a month

Here in MX we just started level 2 with more than 200 confirmed cases. Interesting to see how every country is handlening this situation. At the end we will be able to see and learn from the most efficient one and implement so many things, not only for health crisis but for literally every broken system of our goverment and society. So far being the richest or one of the richest country doesnt translate to the most efficient one to handle a situation like this.

Omg I was sooooooo obsessed with The Tribe for years and it had a huge cult following

 

YouTube was saturated with fan music videos of it (although a high of them are now removed unfortunately because of music copyrights)

 

It's also funny how I discovered it cuz it was totally by accident. I was searching up Avril Lavignes song "girlfriend" on YouTube and this video showed up on the search and I pressed it out of curiosity and the shirtless pic

 

 

I whatched the fan music vid and thought whatever show it was seemed really interesting but it took me a few weeks to find out what the show was cuz I thought "Slade" in the title was the shows name but it was actually the character's name

 

Anyway thru related videos eventually I found out the show was called "The Tribe" and I whatched the entire series on YouTube and was obsessed with it for years

 

No one in Canada knows that show so if talk about it constantly to my friends (cuz I was so Obsessed) and they'd be lost and thought I was nuts

Hahahaha the homosexuality jumped out when you were a teen! Wow I remember the days of fandmade music videos on early YouTube! It was a different time!

I dunno why but I just hate our accent in TV shows    I can't take NZ actors seriously!

Funny this weird series from out little country made it to Canada via YouTube.

If it all starts going down and we revert to these ways and I have coloured squiggles on my face I'll keep you updated. It'll be like a sequel in real time.
