Justin's music videos flopping - what does this tell us?

In case any of you were unaware, just like his previous album, Justin has created a visual album for Changes (Changes: The Movement), where, once again, he puts out a video for every song but every video consists of nothing but choreography danced by unknowns. He's so far put out 10 dance videos (including one for Intentions, which already has its own video as it's a single) and despite being around for well nearly a month, that's the biggest viewed video, with just 5.9 million views. Every other video has less than 5 million views each. Forever, which is the current single, is the lowest viewed, with just 1.4 million views in the 12 days its been released. As for his audio uploads of his entire album, they're not much better. Highest viewed audio is Forever, with 12 million, lowest viewed is Take It Out On Me, with 1.7 million. All these audio clips were released over a month ago. May I add that Justin has over 52 million subscribers. Subscribers don't mean that people are buying your work, but it definitely means that they're watching your content. So, how do you have that many subscribers (the most subscribed to artist in the world) and yet, your average video doesn't even pull in 10% of your subscribers? When artists with much lower subscribers have video views that slay those figures? And as for his album and tour sales, well, they're not good either.

What do you think is the reason for this? Does Justin artificially inflate his subscribers? Are his fans tiring of his style of music videos and find them uneventful and not worth checking out anymore? Do his fans only want to watch his videos when he's in them? Or does this prove that the majority of his fans only follow him because they find him attractive and aren't genuinely interested in his musical output?

Discuss.

The question is: does he have fans anymore? :oprah:

Youtube is notoriously sh*tty about notifying subs about new uploads even if you click the bell, so... Is his sub count inflated? Possibly, but probably not - view count not matching with sub count is not uncommon... It's probably a combination of underwhelming work and failure to push it - I'd imagine most of those subs came around because of his previous work which is better AND has the nostalgia element to it

It's a joke! When you give me that look, it's a joke!

I'd say it's two things: most of his subscribers are probably bots, and his real fans are probably listening to his music on Spotify. (I dont know what his Spotify streams are).

I feel like he is just halfassing everything? and people is not dumb other people is out there making amazing content to promote their stuff and he kinda thinks his name alone can carry success, but clearly not. He needs to step up.

I feel like the success of the Sorry video was a one and done.

Realistically, the songs themselves have to be good, on top of actually providing something new and novel to the eye from a video standpoint.

With big artists, there ends up being hundreds of fan made dance videos for songs, so posting videos of people dancing to a song doesn't really draw people in to view it.

It tells us nobody cares about his mediocre music anymore. It doesn't take a PhD to figure out.  :ohwell:

I agree. I don't think Justin ever had a super strong fanbase in terms of music OTHER than the young girls who stanned for him in his early years, however I would argue that was largely related to his image and that these girls have now grown up and don't enjoy that anymore, other than for nostalgia.

I think the videos are flopping for the same reason that this entire era did; Justin got complacent and stopped putting out good pop music. While I don't like every song, I would argue that Purpose was a pretty good pop album, and the singles were bangers. I think he got to the point where he was brave enough to think that bland, boring sh*t like this would succeed, but people actually aren't here for that kind of boring music, and he doesn't have a strong enough fanbase to support it anymore.

The current single is Intentions, not Forever.

Also, YouTube has peaked, North America uses Spotify/AM more and that's where his base is.

+ Yes he's not as famous as before and the album isn't as good as Purpose so def an impact there.

He currently has 62M monthly listeners on Spotify, Yummy is at 300M+, Intentions coming for 200M, Forever at 60M and other tracks at 20M.

Sure everyone thought - including me before yummy - that he would perform way better, but oh well :poot:
