Honestly, I'm not really concerned about that, probably cuz I really don't care what people think - if there's some poor schmuck out there who is going through my message history, well, I hope they're having a good time cuz I talk about cocc a LOOOOOOOT :gayhat:

I'm ready for their reactions :fan:

yet when i said we need to be wary of the government trying to remove privacy rights during a time when the MSM is focusing 100% on covid19, I was labeled an “anti-vaxxer and conspiracy theorist” :billie:

sure but imagine your info is sold or accessed by/to your workplace, or to a foreign govt who discriminates against LGBT people. Then it becomes a matter of personal safety.

Yeah isn't this similar to 911?

because of the TSA?
I think the TSA is safer bc they don’t ask things like ur sexual orientation, relationship status, etc...

Unpopular opinion, probably because I come from a country with a ton of crime on all possible levels, but is it really that bad? If you have nothing to hide whats the matter if they comb through your messages and stuff, and by the way, Im pretty sure it wouldnt be a human looking through everything you do, it doesnt make sense, it would be an algorithm that quickly combs through all your data looking for key words and phrases related to crime.

it can easily be weaponized. if they have access to your messages, they know your income, your sexual orientation, your relationship status, your likes and dislikes. They can then sell this info to foreign governments, to corporations doing background checks, and to advertising companied. If you are an LGBT person, your safety could be compromised if you travel to a country where LGBT rights are not recognized. Your employer can discriminate against you because they know your sexual orientation. An adoption agency may deny your request because they know you’re intimate preferences.

There’s a lot beyond just “i’m not doing something bad, i have nothing to worry about”.

Then I would say that this law should include something that stops them from weaponizing that info but still allows them to look for crime-related activity.

i think the best answer would be to find some sort of balance here

There is no balance. Data is either encrypted or it’s not.

...

the balance would be regulating certain areas of data encryption. :triggered:
