You’re most likely young, but when I was a kid the Internet was not what it is today. Many kids didn’t have access to computers at all outside of school (I’m talking elementary school). So there wasn’t a way to do your own research. I get it’s such an old person thing to say, but it was a different time. If any of those kids I grew up with still use words like that then yeah, that would be pretty awful. But you can’t blame a kid for the environment they were raised in. There were people to correct me, mainly my mom which is why I never said that ****. I also grew up in the Midwest were there are TONS of racist people. My school only had a couple POC but not having them around is no excuse to use derogatory words. You don’t need someone to explicitly tell you that the word is bad, you can infer that it is just like kids do with swear words & other words. I also never looked these things up, I never searched racism etc. but I knew that it was bad & wrong to have those beliefs or to say certain things. If anything given my environment it wouldn’t be insane to see people come out of it being racist because of how many people around me that are racist. Anyway, that’s just my own experience.
