For me it’s definitely between Ultraviolence and Norman F*cking Rockwell.

It would be Honeymoon if Honeymoon were an EP with only the first seven tracks. :billie:

"Born To Die" was my favorite for so long, i thought it would be Lana's biggest album ever (in my perspective) but "Norman F***ing Rockwell!" omg! i'm glad Lana keeps getting better and growing as an artist! this album is a masterpiece, they're really close to each other, so...

1. Norman ****ing Rockwell!

2. Born To Die

3. Paradise

4. Ultraviolence

5. Lust For Life

6. Honeymoon

7. Sirens

8. Lana Del Ray A.K.A. Lizzy Grant

I still stand by the idea that Paradise is not an full-blown album, it's just a continuation of BTD. It has 6 new tracks, a cover and a re-recording of an album, hardly worth the title of a stand-alone album. But...I probably think it's her best if I look at it in isolation. My ranking is:

1. Paradise (literally every track's a winner, the only one I'm not as keen on is Burning Desire and that's just a bonus)

2. Born To Die (Diet Mountain Dew is the only one I'm not as keen on and even that one's still good)

3. Ultraviolence (Brooklyn Baby and FMWUTTT aren't as amazing by comparison but the rest of it is awesome)

4. Norman F**king Rockwell (this one was lower initially but grew on me more, the ones I wasn't as keen on now aren't half bad with Bartender now being the only one that leaves me cold)

5. Honeymoon (such an underrated great album but looking at it in retrospect, it has a couple down moments with Terence Loves You not taking me all the way and Art Deco just simply not being good enough for the album in the first place)

6. Lust For Life (this one used to be higher up the list but looking back on it, some songs could've worked better and there's a good quarter of them that don't move me like the rest of her stuff does).

But you have to realise, that even when I criticise Lana, she's still amazing. Even when she's "bad," she's still above average, even very good. I use the 5 star rating system and I've never rated any of her albums less than 4.5 stars in my life.

Born to die

paradise

everything afterwards was just a different iteration of ultraviolence.  She just kept remaking the same album over and over

I couldn't agree with this more. I think this is what makes her such an incredible artist. Plus, I love an artist who feeds their fans without over saturating but also not starving us. She is the perfect amount of releases vs time.

My top album is Honeymoon. It's her most cohesive in theme and sound, personally. Second is NFR - probably my most anticipated and excited to hear album, but Honeymoon still reigns. I hate that there was no proper tour of Honeymoon! Third place is tied with BTD and UV. They are so different, but equally as compelling and enjoyable. 4th/5th place is for Lust for Life - even though 13 Beaches, Cherry, and Heroin are some of my top favorite tracks, there's a good chunk of the album that I think was excessive or "filler" (I hate that word..). Last place, which is still high ranking, is Paradise. I am not too big a fan of Blue Velvet, Yayo, or Body Electric, which is basically half the album. At the end of the day, I love Lana and all her releases!

It seems to be her forgotten era, for sure, as far as she's concerned. It was apparently the album where she claimed she did everything exactly the way she wanted to do it, so it was obviously very personal to her. So, why didn't she promote it or tour with it? Well, you know those blind gossip sites? Back when Honeymoon was released, some item came up that said something like "This American female indie pop singer is so strung out on drugs right now that she can't even think about going on tour." So, rumours were that this was the time in which she was relapsing, which explains how out of the loop she was, in between using and getting help for it. It would totally explain why not only did she not tour but also why she rarely performs songs from that album on tours since. Perhaps its songs remind her of a very difficult time that she'd rather forget? If this is the case, that's so sad. It's why I'm not the least surprised that yet again, another tour setlist passes where she pays Honeymoon dust.

Ultraviolence wins for me. I've been addicted to the album since the singles came out and it's one of my favorite 5 albums of all time. Although it has a TON of significance in my life as well, so that kind of solidifies it at the top.

Then Lust For Life.

Then Norman Rockwell.

Then Born To Die / Pradise.

Never got into Honeymoon. I tried. Instrumentals are gorgeous, though.

Her other albums I never got into either and didn't listen to them enough to rank.
