NFRatwell 23,290
To me she really does I honestly would’ve never really been interested in house music but after the (alleged) Babylon snippet and the hype around it Im so excited to hear a House album from her. She also opened my eyes into hard rock/Metal with her Metallica collab. So has Gaga ever gotten you into a genre or maybe even made you overcome something you didn’t like sonically? HotLikeMexico 5,196
Not really. My parents for sure influenced my taste. My parents would always play a record at dinner so we would listen to Queen, Bowie, etc. My dad and uncle are into hard rock so I have always been drawn to the genre. When in high school, I discovered Marilyn Manson and Nine Inch Nails and fell in love (around 07-09). I got into Gaga because of Madonna. My mom is a Madonna fan and would play her music. When Gaga first appeared in 2008-2009 my mom though she was such a fantastic artist and was gonna blow into stardom. I became a huge fan after Paparazzi at the VMA's. what I really love about Gaga is how knowledgable she was with her references, samples, etc.
misunderstood 8,736
I don’t think so. I listen to people like Gaga to XXXTENTACION to Björk to SHEVA so I don’t think so. "I'd rather be poor and happy, than rich and alone"
Guest ARTPOPSlays
Honestly, yes. If she hadn’t went down the more stripped back acoustic route with Joanne I probably wouldn’t be as open to those types of songs. I love harry styles new album, and I love the stripped back guitars songs on those. I don’t think I’d be as into that without Joanne. That’s just one example but yes she definitely does play apart in my music taste
2School4Cool 6,449
Honestly I think she does. Most of the other music I listen to is nothing like Gaga’s music. I’m a fan of Ed Sheeran, P!nk, Bruno Mars, Elton John, Billy Joel, Matchbox Twenty, Sam Smith, etc. Compared to 2008-2014 Gaga, these artists are very different from Gaga. However Gaga really opened my mind when it comes to electronic pop music and gave me an appreciation for it I never really had prior to 2011, she really taught me how to love it. REALITY 76,761
1000% yes. Gaga was the first artist I really listened to (and this was during ARTPOP). Before then, I didn't even really enjoy music the way I do now. If you asked me what my favorite genre was in middle school or elementary school, I probably would've said "classical" because I was learning classical piano at the time Applause and ARTPOP was really my introduction to understanding and actually enjoying music. She became a role model for me, and through her own influences and inspirations, I was able to enjoy different genres of music: rock, jazz, country, folk, etc. I started to really get into aritsts like Davie Bowie, The Beatles (especially John Lennon), Madonna, Cher, etc. I have no doubt that Chromatica will also influence my taste in music! I've already been listening to some classic house music, and I'm already getting really into it! 𝔊𝔬𝔬𝔡𝔟𝔶𝔢, ℑ'𝔩𝔩 𝔰𝔢𝔢 𝔶𝔬𝔲 𝔦𝔫 𝔪𝔶 𝔡𝔯𝔢𝔞𝔪𝔰

ice bear 1
TFM and ARTPOP do actually rethinking that, TFM does; i love the melodies on that album and love to find music that sounds like that, dramatic-yet-dance-y hence why i stan Allie X and Tove Lo on the other hand, ARTPOP helped me discover alternative music; in hindsight it isn't as deconstructed and "weird" as i thought it was back then, but if i hadn't opened my mind for the experimental bits of that record i wouldn't be the person i am today musicwise, say, i wouldn't be listening to Lana del Rey, Lorde, FKA Twigs, Grimes... if it wasn't for ARTPOP do i think she's still able to influence my taste with the current or upcoming records? possibly yeah, she's an artist i know, and trust for quality, so having her name on a type of mysic i'm not really into might help me see it through the Gaga lens and appreciate it more. ice heard one side from above
Monster Hair 165
definitely yes! when i started listening to her music it was weird because i didn't even know i could love her style so much! she's the artist i didn't know i needed since i listen to her i appreciate so much the meaning and intention on every song, the production, the vocals, the songwriting, what a true complete artist is it's been amazing to look at her different styles... pop, rock, jazz, dance, country, hip-hop, damn she's so versatile! Gaga really marked a before and after in my life, she made decide to dedicate my life to music and of course she's my biggest inspiration to create art
