With Chromatica's release quickly approaching, and the current worldwide escalation of the outbreak/pandemic of the highly contagious virus COVID 19 / Coronavirus, should Gaga postpone Chromatica's release date?

Imo, there are multiple pros and cons to consider, and I'm sure her team have at least been discussing this....

Pros to delaying album release

- The US economy, and some other parts of the world who are large music consumers, is in bad shape and is continuing to worsen as the CDC and White House are issuing guidelines that limit the number of people that should gather in one place, state governors are enforcing curfews and closing establishments... many people will be going without pay, leaving less money to spend on music, merch, concert tickets, etc.

- Social distancing is being highly recommended, and even enforced by the law in some states, in the US. How could Gaga even promote this album, perform any of its music, or film any music videos if the CDC is recommending gatherings no larger than 50 people, and the White House suggesting no more than 10 people?

Cons to delaying album release

- Gaga set a large part of this album is about perseverance, dancing through the pain, and healing. This sounds like something the whole world needs at this point.

- Any promo, single releases, or music videos that they have already planned in advance with concrete dates... I'm sure it would be more than a headache to attempt to reschedule

Overall, I'm not sure what the best move is... what do you guys think? I just want this album to have it's proper moment with the rollout and release being as good and eventful as possible... they did incredible with Stupid Love's  launch.

Economy

Tbh yes and maybe even second single a little

There's gonna be like no traffic in dance clubs, radio with less people being out etc

It's not a good time for an artist that doesn't have a very solid following already among GP to release new music

Artists that are very popular right now will get their streams but artists that need exposure again to grow like Gaga will get less opportunity for exposure

She’s barely promoting the lead single as it is, so NO. Push its physical release back and it’ll be huge on streaming. Clubs don’t have much sway on the main charts anymore so they are irrelevant — people will still listen to the radio or be streaming at home. She could do live performances streamed on youtube and premiere new music videos with no issue still.

She DOES have a very solid following with the GP (shallow proved this) and with smart streaming promo she’ll be just fine. We need this album now more than ever!

NO.

We need an escape from this horrible reality. We need something good. Can we stop worrying about freaking album sales, promo and chart positions for once and just enjoy the music? That's what it's all about!

I don't think she was planning to do much physical promo anyways so no

Just amp up her online presence and it will be fine since people are going to be online more often so

No. More like why keep discussing a topic that has been answered before on a larger thread. :neyde:

Its just ****ing music, the only thing that will be affected by it is its promotion and it’s not a big a deal. Let us have something to distract ourselves with :madge:

It won’t be delayed. Gaga knows we want and NEED music.  She doesn’t care about charts and sales.

Is truly a selfless act to release her new album during all this caos and she will
