Didn’t do what it was intended which was to calm investors. As one article put it, the Fed used one of their biggest monetary bazookas to create some calm and it didn’t work. I'm not an expert on stock logistics and economic activity, so I'm definitely naive here in asking- couldn't that large sum of money gone to literally anything else? Like, there are more avenues to cushion a possibly impending recession than just providing a package to the stock market, right? Or even beyond that, simply providing more universal welfare for the people of the country that will be affected by this? Healthcare treatments, large-scale packages to quell those being laid-off/temporarily put on leave, etc. 3 points in and ready for more

It's not high but hiring basically has basically frozen amid the corona virus cuz businesses are getting way less demand for everything (unless it's grocery stores) So if you are among the unemployed it's not gonna be easy not to mention I'm sure the rate will surge

This prevents future inflation problems when economy heats up again If it's given to Government to spent on actual things that money could not easily be taken off the system again later #2 The Central Banks are supposed to be totally seperate to general Government and their duties have to do with keeping currency, money supply and financial system in check Giving money for general operations (say healthcare) is not part of their jurisdiction
