I'm quite the opposite, I love small and picturesque university towns like Heidelberg, Augsburg or Freiburg I always dreamt of living in Aix-en-Provence or Oxford  never been in Leipzig, guess I should pay it a visit! Leipzig doesn't have the beautiful inner city but it is more like lively and open minded. Leipzig is a great place to live because but Dresden is a better city to visit.
