Lighter 15,376
In case y’all forgot. she basically confirmed it’s on ARTPOP. and of course the most obvious guess is Aura. "It is surely coming. I'm very excited to be filming it and doing it. I will say that one of the songs I will be playing at the Roundhouse is meant to be the continuation. "I'm very excited about it. The Telephone video and working with Jonas Akerlund - for Paparazzi as well - was such an incredible experience." https://www.cosmopolitan.com/uk/entertainment/a22160/lady-gaga-beyonce-telephone-sequel/ So no it’s not John Wayne. on an interview with Andy Cohen during Perfect Illusion rollout she said “I don’t know if (telephone2) is on the album cause it’s very different”

adamsenigma 9,520
Not saying it's John Wayne, just saying that the Aura MV ended up being scrapped and then they got together years later to work on John Wayne, but yeah, it's quite clear Aura was meant to be the continuation. A remix with beyonce just to end this sht was missed opportunity since the jw video is already visually stunning
Sneaky Oliver 22,221
Aura’s intro was so obviously written to make it the Telephone sequel!!! Of course it was Aura, perhaps Burqa, but she had to change the whole meaning of the song from female oppression to the true self of a popstar

I hope she never goes through that again. Who in their right mind would say that Aura as the lead single and the Telephone continuation was a bad idea? How can you miss the mark so bad? sillynate 6,170
I think it was Jewels & Drugs but y’all’s negative reception to the song made her cancel

Well they were aiming for a radio hit song so it’s understandable that they chose Applause over Aura. Taking in consideration that it was first titled Burqa, it could generate controversy and bad media for the album, so that would be risky, the last BTW singles were not huge hits so they played it safe to get a successful lead single out
FentyGa 14,340
it was aura lol how is this a debate

She actually got bigger and bigger by being polarizing and controversial at times. And Aura was undoubtedly the superior song out of the 2 (I think it's actually the best song on ARTPOP, period). Wanting to manage Gaga in a safe way is a complete misunderstanding of her art.
