One would hope. But what if Stations from other major cities like Montreal, Vancouver or Calgary dropped?

 

Or worse, in Toronto 99.9 Virgin Radio and Z-103.5 played it less

 

Kiss 92.5 may be supporting SL but they can only do so much on their own

 

I remember how Kiss 92.5 originally was giving Perfect Illusion spins but then the song still flopped miserably and wasn't taking off and even Kiss pulled the song after a couple weeks

Many popular leads do indeed reach these spins

 

But 7-10 is usually the max they get to in this station excluding the release day of the lead

 

Sometimes mega hits like OTR, Shape Of You, One Dance etc will get even more like 12-14 cuz they get played every 1:45 to 2:00 hours but that's a small fraction of songs

 

So 7-8 is pretty solid I'd say. But this is also the first time excluding release day they played it that many times tho

 

To be a true solid hit on the station it will need more days like this. Up till now it's been getting played 2-5 times daily

If it was payola they should have done it to 99.9 Virgin Radio not Kiss 92.5 cuz thats the biggest Toronto Station

 

Also Kiss 92.5 has usually been pretty Gaga friendly and they are also known for picking up new singles faster than the other Stations that wait longer for the GP to get to know a song... So it's normal they'd be playing Stupid love the most

 

So I have no reason to suspect payola

 

But we're like 2 weeks in. Even Kiss was starting to drop Perfect Illusion at this point so this is an upgrade on performance

It’s been the top radio gainer for top 40 in the USA for quite some time, no? Major stations like z100 in NYC are playing it up to 7 times a day... it’s well beyond the timeframe that payola would be influencing the decisions of what’s played on the radio... it is definitely at least on its way to becoming a radio hit.

Well it was the top USA gainer 2 days in a row early this week but not last few days so not everyday

 

But it's always been in the top 5 gainers on a daily basis hopefully it stays
