A treatment minimizes the symptoms and prevents the disease from progressing.

A cure destroys the disease.

Rough and quick translation, a big pharma in Spain just announced that one medicine theyve been testing is showing great results when tried against a virus that is extremely similar to COVID19, its ready and they are about to test in human patients as soon as possible.

This adds up to Remdesivir, which will be ready mid-april. And cloroquine and hidroxycloroquine, which are also widely available now, and on average reduces hospital time from  2-3 weeks to 4 days and is being adopted by many countries.

We'll get through this!

Horrray  for  Spain … I hope its not fake news man....:excited:

like a cat in a sil, I observe life, moving and still. My words give a clue, look inside to see whats true

This is great news!! For those of us in the US however would have to pay a foot and a leg for the medicine when it's made available.

I'm trying to find more sources and can't find any, so this makes me a bit sceptic. The article also specifies that the drug HCoV-229E and not SARS-CoV-2 (the virus responsible for this pandemic) so while it is somewhat encouraging, it's still months away from potential use. It's nice to hope for the best, but let's be clear that by all means this situation is gonna get a lot worse before it can get better.

Isn't it sad that we know exactly what to expect when it comes to our healthcare in this country? :toofunny:

Aplidin is an antiviral and immunosuppressive treatment used as a last resort treatment when someone has cancer  of the plasma cells aka their antibody-producing cells. I can't imagine a single treatment will  ~cure~ COVID but Aplidin  and similar treatments will hopefully prevent/alleviate the most severe outcomes of COVID.

wait wait how is an antiviral ALSO an immunosuppressive treatment? all of this is waay far beyond my two brain cells sorry

Even if this is effective on the particular test strain used in the trials so far, there’s no evidence to support yet its effectiveness on the exact strain of COVID-19 making the rounds at the moment, and as with all viruses, they can mutate and evolve as we start to build immunity as a collective.

There’s already been reports of people fully recovering and catching a second time in China, showing already some people are not producing antibodies that will keep them from further infection in the future.

Expect cases to peak in the summer, drop off towards the autumn and potentially come back stronger and more resistant to any form of known treatment come winter 2020

Well they say that the strain they tested it on is one of the most similar ones, its also closely related to bats, thats why they are requesting permission to test on actual COVID19 pacients asap.

The reinfection reports are still unconfirmed, they most likely were false negative tests.

About it coming back stronger, its a possibility, but it can also come back weaker, viruses usually dont like killing their hosts and evolve to be less deadly.
