StrawberryBlond 14,203
Thank you! The audience look bored as F*ck and the GA is like half empty That stadium was one of the biggest flops of her tour. Ullevi holds 75,000 for concerts and she performed for 37,000. So, when you said it looked half empty, you were right. But of course, it got marked as a sell out. Other disappointments included Kiev, Warsaw, Rome, Coimbra, Brussels, Dublin, Vienna, Nice, Ottawa, Chicago, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Denver, Dallas, Houston, Detroit, New York (the later MSG dates) and Atlanta. In the case of the European stadiums, we're talking half empty and in the case of the American arenas, there were 7,000+ tickets left at most and she could sell out one date at a venue, but not two. For example, two dates at the Staples Center should have seen her play to 40,000 people overall, but she only had 29,000 overall. In Houston, she was supposed to play for 38,000 overall, but just managed 24,000. And most shockingly, she was supposed to play for 47,000 people overall in Chicago but only managed 28,000 overall. This tour was far too ambitious and made Madonna look really bad. If she'd stuck to smaller stadiums and one arena date per American city, she would have had honest sell-outs. Ok, she wouldn't make as much money, but the attendance would be impressive. I think LN just assumed she'd sell based on her name and thought nothing of adding second shows and more massive stadiums, even when there wasn't any demand. Gaga may not be making as much money, but her attendances are much better and she's got the perfect number of shows to meet her demand and no more. Rollercoaster 2
I think this tour will undoubtedly top tmb but if she'd had a single out in august or something, I feel like the promo from radio plays etc could have had Latin America a bit higher attendance... although the main problem there is that it was all announced stupidly late. Still... it was incredible for a first shot. ARTPOP tour should concentrate on doing big venues paired with back to back arenas in places she can milk and 2 arenas in places she is riskier with. Americano 31,061
I don't even really want her to tour with ARTPOP if it's coming out right after this tour.
nick4bty 2,758
I feel like Gaga is going to do a world tour for every single album. The only way another world tour would work is if she did two volumes and toured for both during the second volume era. Otherwise, she should just wait til the album after. sobercool 0
I don't even really want her to tour with ARTPOP if it's coming out right after this tour. I'd rather festival dates (real festivals like Lollapalooza, Glastonbury, etc) and small promo shows (like Monster Hall in Sidney last year). But we don't really know where will ARTPOP take Gaga. She did many more stadiums in North America for S&S Tour Los Angeles,San Diego,Miami,Vancouver,Houston,Detroit and of course the incredible 250,000 tickets in Buenos Aires over 4 sold out nights.Dublin,Edinburgh (FREE TICKETS),Lisbon,Rome and Warsaw were total failures for this tour 36,658 in Rome in a 78,000 venue,Warsaw had 38,699 in a 72,900 venue. The Free tickets in Edinburgh clearly come to light when you look at the gross 52,160 Attendance but only 4.5m in gross compare that to 54,000 in London but a 6.7m Gross how do 2,160 people make up 1.1m? LOL Dublin was the worst attendance EVER for the Stadium 3 times less than Michael Bubles 2 sold out nights,Less than Niel Diamond and The Script even! Coimbra in Lisbon was reported as a bit of a disaster too 10,000 tickets left over,Did they really expect her to fill stadiums in Brussels,Vienna,Zurich,Lisbon,Dublin etc? The figures are WAY down too a THIRD of the last tour in Lisbon,Half in Paris etc
drinkmytears 2,332
I don't even really want her to tour with ARTPOP if it's coming out right after this tour. Same. I think she should do ARTPOP, promo it, then do another album at the Top of 2014 and tour all 2014.
Emvee 7,752
If ARTPOP brings great success, not touring for that album will be a huge missed opportunity for both LiveNation and Lady Gaga's namesake. It would be like waiting to tour the Monster Ball until after the TFM era. Same. I think she should do ARTPOP, promo it, then do another album at the Top of 2014 and tour all 2014. So, in other words, a second volume of ARTPOP. Gaga can't conceive a completely different concept album in just one year. It would have to be an extension to ARTPOP, like TFM was to The Fame. MegaMiles 0
is that valid?? Taylor Swift is far outselling Lady Gaga in North America ticket sales Box Office reports reveal this weekend that in North America, the battle of the gay icons at the concert box office isn't even close; Lady Gaga is far behind Taylor Swift. It's important to note that both stars are doing overall good business, but Swift is so far ahead of Gaga that it is interesting to take notice. Lady Gaga begins her North American tour at the Tocama Dome in Washington on January 14, almost a month away. There are many seats available in all sections. Taylor Swift begins her U.S. tour on March 13 in Omaha, NE and there are a limited amount of seats still available. There is no doubt that these seats will sell out within three months. Shocking is the fact that despite Lady Gaga's efforts to heavily market her work towards the gay community, gay-heavy Northern California doesn't seem to care much about her this time. She is playing only one show in San Jose this time, and even that show has yet to sell out. We are told there was another show that could have been added had the first one sold fast enough. Judging by ticket sales, the first show will definitely sell out by showtime, but you can still buy a limited amount of seats at Ticketmaster and there are many tickets available at secondary sites such as Stubhub. http://www.examiner....ca-ticket-sales Stopped caring after they called Taylor Swift a gay icon. :smh:
theredkilt 0
let me summarize this by saying that both Gaga and Madonna have dates that "struggle" to sell out. Every artist has them.
TheMadridHash 4
The Rolling Stones thing could be the initial part of the NA tour promo and i do agree that if ARTPOP is released through the summer she should make her word and release Volume 2 or Part 2 or a continuation or whatever she decides to call it and THEN Start touring ARTPOP it would be like taking the "supposed" success of Volume 1(the commercial) to the Volume 2(the experimental) AND giving a break to HERSELF and the market from all her touring Markets like European and North American CAN be re-visited sometimes rather quickly BUT markets like Asia, South America or even her new recent discovery south Africa, those need a bigger break so she can build an athmosphere of success AND most importantly the next time she visitis south america AVOID Madonna AND have more than 4 months for ticket sales
Rollercoaster 2
The way I see it, we will get ARTPOP early 2013 and the singles should take us to at least November, allowing a late year lead for part 2 which would come in 2014. This means the tour could start in February 2014 so she would skip a year of touring pretty much in terms of promo. What it means though, is that it gives 4 new singles already out there as potential huge hits and still more to come from volume 2. It's the best of both worlds and means the singles from part 2 will serve as promo. She needs to go in for the kill with the tour, take no prisoners. Support acts that have toured the regions on a lower scale successfully already or are new and proving very popular (not starlight and madeon... who is tempted by that line-up? Lol). Start the tour in Europe, 2nd leg in the states to allow good single promo which will boost the tour as a whole, then onto Oceania and Asia during single 3, and back to Europe and the US again around single 4 as we start 2015. During the entire tour, have Latin American tickets on sale so they've been available for around a year or so. Hit Latin America in march 15 with all those new hits fresh in everyone's minds, then end the tour in south Africa in April 2015. Given how easily Gaga can sell out a venue in Europe, I'm very surprised they didn't double up on the Manchester arena shows with btwb. Twickenham was great but she could have easily done 3 nights at Manchester as well.
