My "Current Singles" playlist hasn't been this large in such a long time. :flutter:

In case anyone was wondering about the order, the day a song begins impacting, I drag it into the playlist. Naturally, the longer a song lingers around the charts, the higher it rises on the playlist.

Most of those will probably flop but I don't care.

(Actually I do )

Scream & Shout receiving a hefty 28 plays. Jean slays your playlist once again whilst she slays the charts. :legend: I don't see Legend Of the United States there (LOTUS - X-Tina). :teehee: Joanne better be there come summertime when her single is released. :nails:

As far as remixes are concerned, the one person who utilized them to have a huge sales boost was Britney. TTWE would of peaked at #8 on the Hot 100 and was about to fall off the Top 10 when the remix was released and that skyrocketed the song to #3 on the Hot 100 allowing it to gain more steam on radio. No one really seems to point that out. It would of sold maybe 2M in the US w/o the remix vs. the 2.7M that it has sold so far. IWG would of probably ended up being the biggest hit from FF. Peaking at #1 on Pop and equaling or passing the sales of HIAM and TTWE (if it didn't have the remix).

Oh yes, the remix definitely helped out Last Friday Night. I was just pointing out that members act like the remix was the end of the world or something. In reality, it helped give it that last little push to number the top spot, but it was still entirely successful without the remix.

I actually have no idea if the remix was responsible for for pushing the song into the top 3. It didn't do too well, but it may have given it enough of a boost to gain a chart position. You can tell me if you find any information about it :).

But that's the just the thing: had she not used cheap tactics such as the remix and discount, she wouldn't have tied MJ's record. Not only would Last Friday Night have missed the #1 spot, but E.T. may have as well. Both songs probably would have been successful nevertheless, but Katy's stanbase thrives off of the fact that she has so many consecutive #1's, when the reality is that had she gone the honest route, she may have only had 3-4. That's still something to be proud of, but her 'fake' #1's make her seem more popular than she really is. I'll admit that I'm biased on all this though, since I'm not really a fan of Katy at all. But this is how I see it, and I'll respect your opinion as a fan just as I hope you respect mine as a non-fan.

I don't buy songs if I don't think they have a shot on the charts. Sorry Legend X

Half of the songs on that playlist did/are in the process of flopping, tho. :toofloppy:

The TTWE remix was the last straw for me lol. Now I just pretend that it never happened.

Oh, sis, but that Nicki verse was pretty damn cool. At least I bop to it. :music: I could do without Ke$ha, though. I'm still here for the remix simply because I wanted TTWE to peak in the Top 3 and it did. :nails: If there was one thing to die over during the FF era, it was those promo performances, tbh. :lmao: But she's newly single and was spotted in the studio today so Jean is cooking up some upcoming slayage. :excited2:

Reading this, it hit me that no one ever really points this out. And then I realized that it's because, at least in this one particular incident, Britney included two of her peers in the remix, not just any random rapper. (I wouldn't count Nicki as a rapper in this case, since her hit single of the time was more of a pop tune.) And plus, Ke$ha helped write the song, so it was only fitting that she had a part in the remix. All factors considered, to the general public, Britney's remix felt like it was put out for a purpose other than just boosting sales, while Katy's mostly seemed like a way to snag those last few sales to grab that #1.

Well, yes, and Nicki was also the opening act for the Femme Fatale Tour so it's always nice when she pops up and does her verse during each performance. :) Good point! Knee her remixes. :legend:

Exactly, and I didn't even take that into consideration. Britney's remix made sense - Katy's (generally) did not.

Since 2010, there have been only 2 #1s snagged from purely "manipulate the chart" remixes or discounts.

Rihanna S&M feat. Britney (at Katy's Expense)

Katy discounting Last Friday Night (to top LMFAO).

ET single always had Kanye and was for dominant at #1 it may not have needed him. Not different than many singles being remixed for single release to radio. Katy's other remxes with with old rappers and had no chart effect.

Yeah, Rihanna's S&M remix was a flat out attempt at a #1. :rip: Poor Britney was probably forced to record those vocals when she had a damn cold because they wanted to rush release it in order to get that #1 spot.

I remember hearing that Rihanna discounted Only Girl in the World to make it go number one.....did that not happen?
