HOTRODSGAGA 81
What's the best time for gaga to release the lead single? Excuse my ignorance, but is there a period of the year in which music sells more [besides xmas] / there is less competition?
Galactic Mess 1,393
I think she should release the single right after the tour ends, with the video coming a week or two later.

heavymlover 340
I think she should release the single right after the tour ends, with the video coming a week or two later. Definitely. She needs some rest after the tour had finished, and of course enough time to promote the single decently. Right now she looks kind of drained with the tour, so she needs to take a deep breath and then come back properly. Late April is my bet for a first single. Excuse my ignorance, but is there a period of the year in which music sells more [besides xmas] / there is less competition? It's a little different every year so the label would have to watch out for who's releasing what and when. But releases from September and onward will have tons of competition. However, they are more likely to receive the full effects of the Christmas sales boost. Sometime between January and September, depending on what exactly is released that year, there's a point in time when the charts are dead-locked and rather boring. There's less sales during this time but there's less competition. As for predictions as to what songs people are expecting to smash you'll have to ask someone else. I don't keep close enough tabs on that list ;).

Thank you! well i am actually confused because i don't know if it's better for gaga to risk releasing an album when sales are relatively low cuz she wouldn't be having a lot of competition. For exemple Taylor swift took advantage of it in September of last year while CA and Ke$ha were completely overshadowed buy Rihanna, Taylor and Bruno when they both released their lead singles at a very competitive time. January through September sees higher sales peaks.

craig 680
Best time? - for TV promo May and Nov (sweeps months, there are awards shows, idol-xfactor are concluding. For itunes sales - avoid the dog days of mid-summer, pre-Xmas freeze, week another mega-star releases, or when a mega-hit is peaking, but beyond that anytime is okay.
