Your single choices are right but Judas is one of her best songs! It is a right single choice, it just shouldn't be the second single.

Those aren't my single choices, they're Gaga's. And no Judas wasn't. The public is too ****ing stupid to understand a basic metaphor that's supposed to be taught in 5th grade. I would have never released it.

Apart from booking several performances on Alan Carr, Ellen, Grammy Nominations, The EMA's, and the Bambi awards, released and promoted a remix of the song to radio stations, and set her up as the star of the 2012 Ball Drop..they did absolutely nothing.

I appreciate the sarcasm. Read Magoo's last comment. Since I have to be more specific, I was referring to the song's airplay.

I think she said it, to please the fans. She seems really interested in Judas as she seems for MTN, just that both songs failed to achieve commercial success.

MTN would have failed as second/third single, the song is not that good or catchy.

This tbh!

Yeah but it's not only about sales, I think that Judas is a very iconic Gaga song, it's part of her legacy! I think that if the singles were: BTW, Scheisse, TEOG, Judas, Marry the Night all singles would have sold much better, because the era would have been more powerful! But what's done is done and we can't turn back time! We can only look forward, BTW era was an epic Era after all!

As a fan, I love that song too. I was so happy when it was released that it overshadowed my thoughts on its performance as a single. In my last post, I wasn't thinking as a fan, I was trying to think as though I was a member of Interscope and I wanted my biggest money maker to have another smash hit.To labels, sales are more important than what fans want.

I know... But there is no need for all singles to be huge when it comes to sales!

The song wasn't clicking so they pulled support. No point wasting time, money, and resources on a project that will go nowhere. They supported the song from an artistic standpoint from start to finish. However, once it became clear that Gaga was done with her performances and the song wasn't going to succeed commercially, they pulled support. The song wouldn't have been a big hit anyways. I'm glad that they ended it at a 29 peak than use marketing tactics to push it into the top 20. That would have only prolonged the fact that the single wasn't going to be a hit. I'm pretty sure that fans would have complained if the song broke the top 20 merely because Interscope made a radio deal. Isn't that why Katy Perry and Rihanna are criticized daily on this forum?

I completely understand that and wouldn't blame them, but the fact they pulled the plug right after the Christmas freeze was over was just plain stupid... I saw so many "flopping" songs rise to the top 20 or top 10 after this new year started.

I still stand by my opinion the song would have flopped anyways, but I still think the song could have peaked a bit higher and had more longevity if radio stuck with it for longer than it did.

Exactly. The whole point of releasing a single is for it to be successful so it can move more albums. Even if it wouldn't have gone top 10, do the most so it can reach it's full potential. If it hadn't been pulled after the Christmas freeze, I bet it would have gone Top 20 :coffee:

Yes... It would benefit album sales, which is the real money maker. And I disagree with Tommy that extending the song's longevity without it peaking high would make it look worse... Peaking at 29 then flopping out of the top 100 a few weeks later looks bad to anyone.
