Jake 0
EMAs, Grammy Noms, Ellen, Paul OGrady, Japan NYE, NYE USA, Bambi awards, Radio 1 UK performance.. etc I was just talking about the US. Grammy Noms is not a prime performance spot lol Ellen was probably the most watched thing she had before NYE and that's a daytime talk show. NYE was a prime spot but it was already losing ground on radio. Besides, most recent Gaga singles have fallen back on strong videos to keep them surging. Marry The Night's video was not doing the song ANY favors. EDIT: I know this is a pointless argument, but I need to feel like the song could have done well lol I was so excited when she announced it as a single. Phlop 4,773
Her US performances of MTN were not special. The Grammy noms one she looked crazy and it was overshadowed by You and I. Her Ellen performance was a flop too. And by the time NYE came around, the song was dead. BYE

Va Va Voom is in the exact same boat. Around 40 on iTunes and loosing airplay. Do you think a NYE performance could save that song? Lol

Lol Lets see... Va Va Voom peaked near #20 on Itunes from radio driven sales, which is something Marry The Night couldn't do. Also, Va Va Voom has less airplay now than MTN had on NYE. So it's not really a good comparison. BUT yes, I think it would have gotten a good sales boost. Radio would continue to drop regardless. My whole point is that people didnt like the song. If people liked it, then we would have seen the song jump after the performance. It did not. And it's not like the performance of MTN was bad either. It's a pretty good comparison too. A late term single that fans expected to smash. I'm just saying that there's grey area. If it MTN had been preformed on things people watched while it was gaining, and had a video that didn't have to be watched with a large soda and bowl of popcorn, I think it could have at least gone top 10. EDIT: And I do think NYE would have been more effective if it had just been an epic performance of Marry the Night. Singing Born This Way right after stole some of its thunder. Overall, yeah it has more. I was referring to Pop Radio. I've been watching charts for years and a song that is #14 on Pop Radio should have been way higher than 30's on iTunes. It's so clearly obvious to me that people just weren't receptive to the song lol. I know people want to support Gaga and be optimistic, but that is just how it is. We move on and accept it as a flop. I have to agree with the last sentence. Hopefully there won't be another for a long, long time. It doesn't really matter to me how well her songs sell as long as she continues to make music, but I love the feeling when one comes on the radio. Americano 31,061
Alejandro had a long ass weird video and barely any promo, yet was a global hit. If MTN couldnt be a hit after all of that promo, its the song itself
