00000000 1
Rhythmic radio seems racist. PSY's sound should be perfect for them. If he was black like Flo Rida, they'd be playing it to death by now. Yet it is only #19. http://kworb.net/radio/ lol not everyone is here for that mess, and Ellie, Bieber and Guetta all have singles ahead of his on rhythmic and they aren't black. Disagree. It's a great way for artists like Taylor, Gaga, and Lil Waye with million selling album debuts, to make impact on the singles chart BEFORE all their fans have bought the album. It's hardcore fans who automatically download those promo singles - people who would buy the album 1st week or 1st month. The people who need radio and tv promo to buy are largely unaffected. Great strategy - and it's album promo too! If you want long era like Katy, you need to be an emerging star OR have fans of your singles who DON'T buy the album. Bottom Line - I see NO downside to Gaga using promo singles at all. If she'd held EoG back, it would have peaked #6 instead of #3. Hair would have peaked higher if the album didn't leak about the same time it was released. :tea:
Americano 31,061
Gaga shouldn't use promo singles. She CAN make an impact on singles charts without such clutter and over-kill, she just needs to release strong videos again.
Arturo 40,746
I don't mind if Gaga does promo. As long as it's 2 singles like Born This Way instead of 4 like Red :wtf:
Klou 2,414
Interscope didn't do promo singles for many of their big releases this year, so they may not with ARTPOP either.

But the "big" releases weren't really THE pop girls of today. Let's see... Kiss - CRJ MDNA - Medoner Push & Shove - No Doubt What else?

Arturo 40,746
i need the lead single in early january tbh second single in late march album in middle april thnx Apparently she told a fan backstage that the album was coming in March. We got TEA, the Azealia collab, and the 2013 release date from fans backstage before Gaga confirmed it herself so I believe it will come in March
Mariano 958
I'm okay with album release in April but the lead single JANUARY ! And I want atleast 3 months gaps between Singles .. and in these 3 months the singles must be in top 5 :)
heavymlover 340
I'm okay with album release in April but the lead single JANUARY ! And I want atleast 3 months gaps between Singles .. and in these 3 months the singles must be in top 5 :) I think that's the plan. For some reason, I think Gaga is planning the ARTPOP era to be pretty long... It didn't really work for BTW, so probably Interscope is planning to make it work for ARTPOP. Didn't she say she wanted each song to have a video or something like that?
Americano 31,061
Gagas single cycles werent all that short for BTW except Judas, which was because it tanked. Born This Way only had 2 months, but then TEOG went from May until August, You and I went from August until mid/late November.
craig 680
lol not everyone is here for that mess, and Ellie, Bieber and Guetta all have singles ahead of his on rhythmic and they aren't black. Bieber and Guetta are both collaborations with blacks - which means the top 16 on Rhythmic all feature blacks. Ellie was #1 radio song overall not long ago. Which shows that despite the PC name change to "urban" and "rhythmic" a couple decades ago, they still see themselves are black radio playing black artists rather than music with a certain sound. PS: The Billboard rule chances made PSY #1 on rap songs, sparking some racial controversy discussed here: http://www.billboard.com/news#/column/chartbeat/ask-billboard-chart-ch-ch-changes-1007979382.story

Americano 31,061
Billboard is being rendered irrelevant anyway thanks to the internet and iTunes. I don't care about their rules.
