Seeing all the Rihanna vs. GaGa tension in this thread, I thought I'd compile these two lists.

Rihanna

1. Pon de Replay - #2 - Platinum

2. If It's Lovin' That You Want - #36 - N/A

3. SOS - #1 - Platinum

4. Unfaithful - #6 - Platinum

5. We Ride - #107 - N/A

6. Break It Off - #9 - N/A

7. Umbrella - #1 - 3X Multi Platinum

8. Shut Up and Drive - #15 - Platinum

9. Hate That I Love You - #7 - Platinum

10. Don't Stop The Music - #3 - 3X Multi Platinum

11. Take A Bow - #1 - 2X Multi Platinum

12. Disturbia - #1 - 3X Multi Platinum

Lady GaGa

1. Just Dance - #1 - 6X Multi Platinum

2. Poker Face - #1 - 5X Multi Platinum (It should be 6X though, but RIAA hasn't certified as such yet.)

3. LoveGame - #5 - 2X Multi Platinum

4. Paparazzi - #6 - 3X Multi Platinum

5. Bad Romance - #2 - 4X Multi Platinum (It should 5X, but, again, RIAA has yet to actually certify it.)

6. Telephone - #3 - RIAA's site doesn't have it listed, but it should be 3X Multi Platinum.

7. Alejandro - #5 - RIAA's site doesn't have it listed, but it should be 2X Multi Platinum.

8. Born This Way - RIAA's site doesn't have it listed, but it should be 3X Multi Platinum.

9. Judas - #10 - RIAA's site doesn't have it listed, but it should be Gold.

10. The Edge Of Glory - #3 - RIAA's site doesn't have it listed, but it should be 2X Multi Platinum.

11. Yoü And I - #6 - 2X Multi Platinum

12. Marry The Night - #29 - Gold

We seem to forget that GaGa has only been in the race for four years, while Rihanna's been pumping out singles for seven. Seeing both artists' first twelve singles and their chart and sales performances is what should really show one who the more successful artist is.

Also, it should be noted that Rihanna's biggest song, We Found Love, only went 4X Multi Platinum, while Poker Face, Just Dance, and Bad Romance have reached or surpassed that mark.

LOSER OF THE WEEK: Christina Aguilera. Number Seven isn't bad in a vacuum, but Xtina has not only a history of smash pop albums but an enviable marketing platform in NBC's The Voice, which has revived Adam Levine's Maroon 5 on the charts. Aguilera's Lotus sold just 73,000 debut-week copies, 37,000 fewer than her last major album, 2010's Bionic, a dud released in the pre-Voice era that led to a canceled-summer-tour debacle. Also, singles sell albums, and while Maroon 5's "One More Night" is at Number Two on the digital-songs chart (losing Number One this week to Rihanna's "Diamonds"), nothing from Lotus is even close to the Top 50 on either the Billboard Hot 100 or the Ultimate Chart, which measures Internet criteria. Although it must be noted that her first single, "Your Body," has logged 28 million YouTube views since its September release.

Has anyone checked out the iTunes popularity bars?

Cassadee Pope is killing it. It's not even a close competition between it and Gangnam style -- right now there's a 0.37 difference

Let Me Love You is #6 on Hot 100, yet it's barely gotten past #15 on iTunes. My hate for Billboard grows more every day

It's not tension, I'm just pointing out that Gaga used to easily be the top girl in the industry and now she's barely keeping up. Interesting how things changed so quickly for her.

How is Gaga barely keeping up?

Who does she have to compete with? It's been a year since MTN....

The only thing going on right now with her is the BTWB tour. And judging by the receipts, the other girls are the ones that can't keep up

If you're really serious, I'm surprised you're making those judgments right now. The two most major things she's done this year she far exceeded expectations on both. Wait until ARTPOP before making any final judgement.

Lady Gaga is still very huge. not even Rihanna can match her level of fame and cultural impact nowadays.

forget numbers and take a look around you. the ones who claim to hate her still have some respect for her and the ones who don't are simply pressed.

How is she "barely keeping up"? Her tour tickets and perfume are selling like hotcakes all over the world, all without her even being in the spotlight. Her last album, which was the 'flop' out of the three so far, was the best selling American album of 2011 worldwide.

Honestly, it seems like Gaga's own fans are looking for her to fail when they say crap like that. It makes no sense and this year alone proves how untrue it is. Her fanbase is a hot mess.

They're not looking for her to fail; at least I hope not :)

Some seem to purposely underestimate her for many reasons; attention, insecurity etc.

In other news, Believe by Justin Bieber topped the 1M mark

His 4th Platinum record after My World, My World 2.0, and Under the Mistletoe :)

Oh and "Beauty and a Beat" jumps to #20 this week. Hope it goes Top 10 :coffee:
