It's not fair to say Gaga can't get #1's like Rihanna, because Gaga's last #1 was BTW, and Rihanna's last #1 was We Found Love. If ARTPOP's lead single goes #1, then they would be at the same level.

I'm happy for Diamonds, I like the song. But if Unapologetic goes #1 when her much better albums like Loud, GGGB, and RR couldn't :crossed:

I think Rih's main problem with albums is that she doesn't release albums with one main sound, I guess? Like, it's always this weird salad bowl of different sounds. It's like they said "ok, guys, we need those dance-pop tracks because they'll go #1. Oh, but they also like a few r&b tracks and oh, yeah, I know they'll like a few hip-hop ones but we need to have a reggae track somewhere and oh, okay, let's throw in a few ballads and one straightforward pop track with a bit of a rock edge." I end up buying a few tracks off the album instead of the album as a whole because I never like the entire album (Rated R being the one exception).

I agree. It's worse than Nicki. I doubt it's Rihanna, though (although I also doubt she gives a ****). It's all marketing -- her label needs to continue making sure that she is accessible to a wide audience, which is why her albums are always a murky mix of different sounds. I can't stand it either, though. One minute she's a pop princess with a generic #1 hit, the next she's charting two songs on the R&B charts.

iTunes is a complete disaster right now. AMA boosted songs, The Voice, and new releases all completely cluttering the top 100.

I think Nicki's a bit better when it comes to the differing sounds on her albums, because she only really switches between dance-pop and rap. The only problem is her hardcore rap fans don't like her pop stuff and her hardcore pop fans don't like her rap stuff. She picked two markets with completely different types of fans (the rap route woulda been a lot better for her, in the long run). I think Rihanna's best albums are her best albums because they have a distinctive sound. Rated R had this darker, edgier feel to it and you wouldn't find songs like Only Girl or You Da One on it. Also, GGGB was pretty good in having a more definite sound. But Unapologetic is too much of a mish-mash for me and I think, if anything, that's gonna be the one main thing that'll keep it from going #1.

Why are all The Voice songs so high up right now? They've never been this high before...

I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it may be due to how low digital sales have been in general. They're really low this time of year, so regular The Voice sales may look higher than normal compared to everything else.

That's so random haha it kinda makes me feel bad for the music industry. Patiently waiting for Gaga to return and save the industry

Try by P!nk is #7, if you don't count the Voice singles, :legend:

I always give Rihanna's albums a listen-through, and I found Unapologetic to be repulsive, tbqh. I barely like Diamonds. And that's the best thing about the album. Stay is alright too, but the writing is pretty bad. It's just not good as a whole. I don't know what she was going for here, but I'm kind of sad that this is the Rihanna we're getting now. It started on TTT, it got worse on Unapologetic. And the fact that it's going to be #1 . . . :toofloppy:

As for The Voice songs, it was a great night of performances, and the positive buzz is clearly helping them. If Cassadee Pope can keep this up, she's going to be charting pretty high on BB next week. I mean, it took her like 2 hours last night to dethrone Gangnam Style. That says something.

I like some of the songs on Unapologetic and can't stand others :pukey: I can't stand Jump, Pour it Up, Loveeeee Song (Future sounds like he's half gagging half having an orgasm) No Love Allowed, etc. But I like Diamonds, Stay, Lost in Paradise, Love Without Tragedy / Mother Mary (but the transition between the two is so awkward). I just...I have no reason to buy the whole album.

And I'm glad The Voice people are finally getting recognition. Their last few winners/runner-ups haven't...done too well

Oh, yeah, and Try needs to go up after that amazing performance :worship:

Oh no ..

at this rate she's probably ending up as the artists with most #1

Most likely. And she's only just 24 years old. It seemed Rihanna is running for that Mariah Carey crown.

she is definitely. Mariah has 18...

if rihanna is getting at least one #1 each album, then 6 more albums she will tie mariah.

and with Rih-released, she will do it within 3 albums
