Interesting. Seems like Ke$ha was the one that reigned supreme after all! I'm glad. Proves that TAKING time in between releases to work on your material and ACTUALLY develop hype is worth it in the end. Makes me happy that my faves aren't releasing material at such a mechanistic and consistent rate (every other year a la Rihanna).

Again, I reiterate the fact that Gaga CAN release an EDM lead single and it WILL perform well (most likely). Gaga will most likely have a radio deal and great opening week sales and that will guarantee a healthy debut and, after the deal is finished, when radio sees that the song is still selling well (video premiere and promotion will aid that) they'll play the song and everyone will be happy. Streaming is still to be seen whether or not it will be an issue, but I think Gaga can rack up some healthy streaming points. If she doesn't, I don't think it will be so bad, Taylor Swift hasn't had a lot of streaming with WANEGBT and it still had good chart performance in the US. Obviously in continental Europe, the UK, Asia and Oceania, I think Gaga will do fine with an EDM single.

Radio deals don't secure success anymore

But they guarantee a healthy debut if paired with great opening week digital sales. Like I mentioned, once the deal is over, if the song continues to sell well (aided by the video premiere and promotion) after the end of the radio deal radio will be forced to play it.

They never did. BTW kept playing on radio because it kept selling.

I was saying EDM might not tell easily

I understand your point clearly. EDM is not a mainstream genre but I think if Gaga were to pursue it would sell (and hence get played on radio). I know Gaga's fans are here for EDM. Besides, the GP is fickle. They don't set themselves with one genre. How was it possible for us to progress from Hip-Hop, Ballads, and R&B to DANCE-POP in less than a year? From Timbaland and Ryan Tedder to RedOne and David Guetta.
