I'm surprised (and thrilled) The Weeknd is selling so much considering it's his combined mixtapes. I expected Lana's numbers, but OUCH at Xtina. craig 680
My calculations already have Diamonds at Hot 100 #1 for next week Except for our old friend "complete my album" ... but it's Rihanna, never mind. Xtina is doing great Stateside compared to her #18 in UK midweeks.

StrawberryBlond 14,633
I really am wringing my hands over this stupid new Billboard rule of airplay having too much precedence in chart position. I'm hoping it gets a ton of complaints and reverts back to allowing purchases to count for more. In my opinion, airplay shouldn't even be a factor in chart positions as it's completely meaningless. Whoever came up with the idea that airplay should count towards chart positions must have been a fan of the most generic music ever. What's really making me mad is how artists can effortlessly rise to the top until they get a #1 like, two months after their single is released while doing no promotion in that time. It's a disgrace. MAKE THEM WORK FOR IT. This is one of the reasons why I can't stand Rihanna - she barely promotes and yet she gets #1 after #1 without lifting a finger because radio do her job for her by promoting her on stations all over the US. I wanted WFL to be Rihanna's last US #1 for a while to teach her and Def Jam that her lead singles don't own the #1 spot and she has to work for them but alas, it looks like she's going to get yet another unjust #1. Gaga busts her ass promoting her singles and how does she get rewarded? #3 at the most. It's so unfair. And the music industry wonders why so many popstars are hated these days? Because they over-saturate the radio and get #1's without having to try and start bigger chances of breaking records and becoming legends because of it. I don't know how it can be legal for businessmen to decide who's going to be #1 by bribing radio stations. Why bother having a chart at all in that case? Pardon my rant. As a Brit, this system just gets makes me see red in comparison to our chart system where the #1 single is the one that people actually bought, not listened to on the radio for free. And this gif: http://www.abload.de...ndtinax5lts.gif Wow @ Susan Boyle. Hard to believe a few years ago she effortlessly slayed everyone. Pretty good numbers for Lana considering how the US isn't here for her. Good numbers for The Weeknd too, considering he gave away all the material for free on his website for the past year or so. Xtina is doing great Stateside compared to her #18 in UK midweeks. ? Diamonds is set for #1 next week (due to sales this week); the album will via 'complete my album' affect recorded sales next week for the chart in 2 weeks' time, and so could easily let in Die Young (or Bruno Mars) for a week at #1 then.
