Although I am rooting for M5, I'm surprised that they blocked a song with so much cultural impact. Y'all may not like M5 which is understandable, but you got to give them props for blocking something as MASSIVE as GS

Purely a artifact of radio being whres for M5 (and maybe being xenophobic about playing Korean lyrics)..

Okay, I;ll give them a bit of credit for maintaining half decent sales long enough to benefit (unlike Pink).

So GS could be another popular song and video that just go No. 2 because another song block it. Kinda like BR, just that BR es better song a video but both are very popular.

M5 is getting close to peaking on radio, especially HAC.

PSY will peak weeks later. So if they can keep selling, they will pass M5 in a couple weeks.

Gangnam Style is now gaining faster than M5 on pop. It's just getting started on HAC.

The songs aren't contemporary though - M5 had weeks head start on radio.

Fun and Carly had to outsell everyone for several weeks before topping Hot 100 too. And US was the last major English-speaking country to make Call Me Maybe #1.

Compare the music video views and see how much MORE people know of Gangnam Style's existence (and how much they actually like it if you look at the like bar) to One More Night's video.

Big difference. Yet Maroon 5 still managed to come out on top for a month already?!?

BB Hot 100 calculations for the week based on all 7 days of itunes bars, current airplay and a streaming estimate

#position, sales (000's) + Mediabase airplay (A.I. millions) + streaming (Ks x 6%) = points, artist, song, (change on Hot 100)

#1 183 + 150 + 48 = 259 Maroon 5 One More Night (=)

#2 281 + 56 + 48 = 250 PSY Gangnam Style (=)

#3 368 + 28 + 3 = 236 One Direction LWWY (New)

#4 141 + 120 + 44 = 210 Fun. Some Nights (-2)

#5 359 + 0 + 0 = 208 Taylor Swift Red (New)

#6 300 + 28 + 0 = 194 Adele Skyfall (New)

#7 98 + 129 + 39 = 186 Justin Bieber ALAYLM (-1)

#8 161 + 120 + 0 = 177 Taylor Swift WANEGBT (-4)

#9 71 + 156 + 25 = 175 P!nk Blow Me 1LK (-4)

#10 108 + 100 + 37 = 169 Alex Clare Too Close (-1)

#11 80 + 104 + 36 = 155 Owl City + Carly Rae Jepsen GT (-1)

#12 90 + 88 + 38 = 152 Flo Rida Whistle (-4)

#13 66 + 104 + 28 = 139 Neon Trees Everybody Talks (-2)

#14 39 + 102 + 40 = 134 Ellie Goulding Lights (-2)

#15 150 + 48 + 8 = 129 Ke$ha Die Young (-2)

#16 67 + 89 + 24 = 125 Chris Brown Don't Wake Me Up (-2)

#17 53 + 61 + 42 = 115 Carly Rae Jepsen CMM (-2)

#18 33 + 81 + 35 = 111 Gotye STIUTK ft Kimbra (+1)

#19 122 + 45 + 5 = 110 Rihanna Diamonds (-3)

#20 46 + 53 + 46 = 110 Kanye West Mercy (=)

#21 37 + 94 + 21 = 108 Katy Perry Wide Awake (-4)

#22 86 + 39 + 29 = 106 Kanye West + Jay Z Clique (=)

#23 72 + 77 + 7 = 103 Ne-Yo LMLY (+2)

#24 88 + 44 + 20 = 102 Phillip Phillips Home (+3)

#25 58 + 72 + 18 = 102 Nicki Minaj Pound the Alarm (-7)

*points = 58% x sales/K + 70% x Mediabase airplay (A.I. millions) + 6% x on demand streaming/K

I've dropped the multiplier for sales down to 58% to adjust for all the high debuts; the actual Hot 100 when released will tell if this is the correct treatment.

#1 vs #2 is still close so I wouldn't put much money on it.

Approx week's sales for Gaga: PF 4.6, TEOG 4.5K, JD 3.8, BTW 3.7K, BR 3.6K, Y+I 3.5K

I know, and it had a some good things going for it too..

- 3rd highest debut on Pop Songs in 2011 (#24) [Source]

- Official Video viewed over 5 million times in less then 48 hours [Source]

- Official Video viewed 10 million times in 5 days [Source]

- Tied with Telephone for 2nd highest ascent (of a GaGa song) to #1 on Dance/Club Play Songs (5 weeks) [Source]

- Apparently, the single cover is (or was) the most viewed picture on Twitpic

If she released as the second single instead of Judas, It would be #1 for many weeks :noparty:

so sick and tired of hearing M5's ****s on radio. :wtf:

Gangnam Style deserves that number spot

This. Also, if Maroon 5 wins, it means Max Martin's formula will become a staple. More artists will sell out.
