kennji 546
at first i didn't like it, but now, it's stuck in my head. IKYWT is kinda good, but there's hardly any country there.
craig 680
To call IKYWT "selling out" implies one of two silly premises: (1) That country music is better, more authentic, less commercial, etc, than dance-pop. Or (2) That artists should never dabble in other genres to attract new fans, in which case the rock influenced songs on BTW (EoG & Y&I) were sell outs, as Gaga pandered to middle America. CANNOGABANG 4
I don't agree that IKYWT is a sell-out, nor do I have a stance on it, but Gaga can't sell-out anymore because she was a generic popstar from the start.

kennji 546
okay, im confused with the previous posts. what IS a sell-out? last time i checked, it's someone doing it for the money, REGARDLESS of genre they are in. it just so happens that making pop music is more profitable than, let's say, country or soul. Ozzy8923 9
I wouldn't call it selling out. Taylor Swift always dabbled in between pop and country music. She was never full-on country like her other contemporaries. And I don't blame her. She has an audience to cater to after all. I think IKYWT is a smart showcasing of how to get a big hit on Pop radio without being labeled a sell-out because the song still has small, but existent, country influences, namely the guitar in the verses. It's like, as craig said, Gaga diverging from her typical dance-pop sound with TEOG and YAI to cater to an older audience and gain a wider appeal. And it worked! Same thing with Taylor. She needed to break free from country and gain dominance on Pop that she had lost during the Speak Now era.

Mariano 958
Lady Gaga started as POP artist and remaines a pop artist. Making a pop record for more success is one thing, making a country record (You and I ) which is so risky for a Pop artist is another thing :kisses:
Mills 446
IKYWT is an inch away to becoming the best-selling single from the entire Red era. And with the next single, 22, still slated to be released on April, well at least in the UK, the label could easily maximized whatever's left for IKYWT. If anything, it still has the time and opportunity to become her biggest career hit after Love Story.

WarriorPrince 1
This is her biggest WW hit in over 10 years. TEN. Really? Isnt that bad? I thought she was bigger.
Mariano 958
wow If Scream and Shout is Britney's biggest WW hit since early 2000s I don't know how she is still in the industry... and this is not even her song ... In my opinion this song is cool but compared to Radar, If u seek Amy and Criminal ( 3 of her singles that are not really succesful) this song is a poop :s

CANNOGABANG 4
I remember when GaGa had long ass single eras. Now, it's just a memory. IKYWT was released around mid-Dec yes? You and I had a 4 month period too.
Klou 2,414
The anti-consumerism The whole making fun of all the hipsters that think it's cool to buy all their stuff from thrift shops. The lyrics are meant to be funny. It's satire. But you hate Gangnam Style with a passion I would honestly bucket those two songs in a similar category. Both are funny, carefree, novelty type songs, but just different genres. Similar to Call Me Maybe and Sexy and I Know It.
