US Charts Discussion (Gaga single tracking: August)

I think I recall MTN peaking at #14 on Ryan Seacrest's AT40 :derpga:

It's not like that chart is even relevant

:nails:

It peaked at #14 on the pop radio chart too which is actually pretty decent. "Marry the Night" didn't do nearly as horrible as everyone made it out to be.

And now Ke$ha doesn't even have singles. :rip: Poor thing, she should just dedicate herself to becoming a song writer again because clearly her solo career is in the pits seeing as not even her singles or her album can sell and let's not even get into touring.

Yeah cause she's Lady Gaga. Peaks in the 30's and 40's don't get a lot of hate and attention if it's a Rihanna song. But if Gaga gets a peak in the 20's, all hell breaks loose. It's the end of the world and her career is suddenly "not on track"

Btw, would Marry the Night have peaked higher for at least a week with the new rules? I mean...it reached #14 on radio..

Ke$ha's problem is that she was gone long enough for Nicki and Katy to take over her niche in the market. Katy with the carefree party music, Nicki with the rapping over pop beats.

#14 on pop radio. It peaked around #30 in digital sales and overall radio. Its peak probably wouldn't have changed, and definitely wouldn't have changed significantly.

Ugh, why is C'Mon already leveling off? I hate when this happens. I get really bad memories of Marry The Night meltdowns :laughga: Why doesn't she go perform somewhere? What is she even doing at the moment? She has a flopping album and a flopping single and she isn't promoting. At least Gaga continuously promoted through BTW and even the MTN era had a handful of performances.

If you compare it to Magoo's prediction for C'mon this week:

#29 70 + 52 + 12 = 11400 Ke$ha C'mon (+19)

Marry The Night at its peak would have been something like:

55 + 34 + 15 = 8600

So yeah, it would have done worse.

Ah, I see.

Although I doubt C'mon will peak at #29, I will die if it does

I doubt it'll break Top 15 though.

When is Bey's single coming out? I have iTunes credit for 1 more song and I've been saving it especially for her.

People over reacted with Marry the Night mainly because it was her first single in history to not become a hit in the US. She literally had a perfect track record until Marry The Night, which makes it stick out like a sore thumb.

At least now we've had a taste of floppy medicine so our expectations are set lower. Well, mine are 'cause I'm expecting a lot of meltdowns if one of ARTPOP's single fail to get into the Top 10.

"Judas" was a bigger flop than "Marry the Night" despite its chart position, and "MTN" was actually a moderate hit.

The MTN was a moderate hit crap needs to stop. It's her biggest flop to date. Yes it had 1m more AI, and was played on TV more but that doesn't mean it was a bigger hit.

It can't even pass 49.5m views on Vevo :toofloppy:

Or perhaps you need to stop being so overly negative and try seeing things for what they really are. Anything that charts top 40 on Billboard is by definition a hit single. It performed decently on radio (and would have gone further had more people bought the song) and was certified Gold in the US. And let us not forget, this was a fifth single.

"Marry the Night" was by no means a smash hit, or even a big hit, but it wasn't a "flop". There's a huge difference.
