Arturo 40,746
Was listening to my local radio station this morning and they list the top 5 songs on the Hot 100 every week. When they announced Diamonds they said they don't know why it's that high because everyone thinks the song is annoying. I have to agree because I don't know a single person (not online) that likes the song There's about a 50/50 division of people at my school that love it and some that think it's annoying. Mills 446
Most of Rihanna's singles are polarizing, that's perhaps the reason why she keeps releasing singles left and right to cater an audience as wide and diverse as possible. It's either a hit and/or a miss most of the time.
Arturo 40,746
I just realized how much of a non-event it is when Rihanna flops. Nobody made a big deal when CKB or Man Down flopped. But when Rihanna gets a hit....QUEEN OF POP. GAGA COULD NEVER. WHY CAN'T GAGA BE AS POPULAR. HER CAREER IS OVER.
tristan 0
I don't like Biebs catching up to Gaga's twitter count . My mom (clueless about music) brought up Gaga yesterday in the car. Mom: What ever happened to Lady Gaga? Me (pretending not to fantard): Oh, um, she's been making her new album for later this year. Mom: Oh, but I haven't even heard about her in the news for at least a year! OH NO EVEN THE CASUALS ARE NOTICING SHE'S GONE. Then again, my mom proceeded to inform me that Kelly Clarkson was a lesbian a few minutes later so her thoughts may not be the most relevant... But on a positive note, it arguably shows that everyone has high expectations on Gaga then since even the least things she has achieved is getting noticed too. :toofunny:

Well gaga is THE popstar, is only normal that people have higher expectations for her, she also raised the bar for the competition, they can only dream with the day gaga's over so it can be lowered again :ohwell:
Mills 446
The Rolling Stones' Doom and Gloom debuts at #44 in the Dance/Club Play Songs chart this week! Taylor Swift's IKYWT grabbed the greatest gainer for Pop Songs, and Gotye's STIUTK, a 2012 smash hit, is the greatest gainer in Adult Contemporary despite being released in 2011. Talk about longevity.
nick4bty 2,758
Gawd, now that Taylor has broken up with Harry Styles, not to mention the Kennedy boy before him, I wouldn't be surprised if we got another album from her this year!

Taylor Swift tends to release a new album every other two years, based on her four efforts since 2006, and all of them having a fourth quarter release right in time for the Holidays. I'd expect for her to come up a follow-up to Red by 2014, probably another October. With that, she has more time to be inspired to write new songs about break-ups. Ozzy8923 9
It came to my mind that the only route for X-Tina to attain commercial/moderate success is making jazz, soul, or blues a la Back to Basics and the Burlesque soundtrack. I find it funny that the general public has reacted positively to those 2 efforts but completely ignored the 2 others (Lotus & Bionic). Back To Basics sold 1.7 million in the US in 2006 (not the best #'s considering what other albums released in the same year were selling, but decent enough) and Burlesque sold 620K in the US (it sold LESS than Lotus and Bionic first week and debuted outside the Top 10 and it outsold it in the US). JudasInTheDark 3
It's just sad for me to think that ARTPOP probably won't sell a million in a week like BTW. I mean I'd definitely say around 800k will happen and I hope I'm pleasantly surprised, but I doubt 1m will happen again without some sort of special promotion.
