tristan 0
I really liked Britney's last album, but my opinion of her dropped a lot after watching The X-Factor. If any of you haven't checked it out, watch an episode to see how unbelievably robotic and uncomfortable she is. She is completely unable to put more than a single rehearsed sentence together. Someone could give the worst performance ever... Britney: "I think you're amazing and you're a star." Nothing relating to the performance, no advice, nothing. Half the time when it's her turn to talk, Simon has to remind her. It's like she's a zombie. It's sad. I don't think anyone here wants her to fail, it's just hard to see her now compared to how amazing she used to be. You watch her old videos/interviews and it's like an entirely different person. Everything just seems so forced now. I want to see her genuinely happy. :-/ In more on topic news, I heard Taylors IKYWT on the radio and it sounds great. I am still proud to say that I don't have a single Taylor Swift song in my iTunes, but I might fall victim to IKYWT.
Jake 0
I like Scream & Shout, so I don't really have concern for the "artistic" output from Britney Spears. To be quite frank, I listen to Lady Gaga who essentially sold out musically to become famous. I mean, listen to her pre-fame music and then listen to her debut album. If I'm turning it onto stations like Z100 and KIIS FM, and picking out songs I like from the Hot 100, I'm contributing to the manufactured nature of the industry anyway. Contrary to a lot of her fans, I don't see Lady Gaga as different than any of the other stars that are currently part of the "machine." I know I'm a little late to this party, but you don't see Lady Gaga any differently than other stars? Why are you here then? I'm not trying to be rude at all, it's just strange to me that you can think that and still be a stan rather than a casual listener. PS-for what it's worth, she innovated pop music too by putting dance music into style with The Fame and I don't think any of us doubt her musical innovation during The Fame Monster and Born This Way. Furthermore we can't say that she sold out. None of us have any idea of what kind of music she would have made if she had acsess to real producers and studio tools during the Red and Blue years. I don't need her to be more than a pop star to be a favorite artist of mine. Also, I'd argue she's vastly over-credited with bringing back dance music. I've always adored that genre, and it certainly was not dead prior to 2008.
Dangerous Man 9,245
lol... songs like CMM, Payphone, Katy songs, etc are hated by most people here (esp coz those songs hit number 1) coz they thought they're crap and generic an undeserving while S&S is being loved (even it has an undeserving quality) by many people here just bcoz Brit is there... Stans are really stans... :smh: "A little less conversation and a little more touch my body."

Dangerous Man 9,245
plus, some people here will only stan for an artists if her songs smashes but when their current single didn't perform well or flopped, they'll put a lot of criticisms not only on the song but also to the artist as a whole. I remember when Criminal under-performed... I just can't at people shading brit... :smh: "A little less conversation and a little more touch my body." Well she started the trend that nearly all major pop stars followed. We can argue semantics all day but I don't think I would ever consider Lady Gaga a run of the mill pop star in any degree. That's not why I'm a fan of hers. Everyone has their reasons for liking her, which is perfectly fine. It can be her message, her desire to be different, her experimental side, etc. But for me, it's that she's a solid pop act that can put out great pop songs, with interesting pop performances. A "run of the mill pop star" isn't a negative connotation for myself. For some fans it will be, and that's fine, but that's not me.

The people that dropped her when MTN underperformed are the ppl that weren't 100% there for her. They were just there for slayage. It's the banwagon-ers.
