Arturo 40,746
From Hts: TAYLOR’S SWIFT RESPONSE: Indications are that Taylor Swift’s Big Machine album, Red, officially available today, has a million copies in its sight, based on early retail reads. Can the country-pop diva actually get there? If she does, it will be the first time in a decade that an artist has had consecutive million-selling debut weeks, since the days of Backstreet Boys, NSYNC and Eminem. Swift currently boasts approximately half of the iTunes top singles, due to the fact the online retailer's “Complete My Album†function was down for the first 15 hours that the album was available, which might account for the large number of track sales as consumers may have opted to buy the songs a la carte. The Target version of the album contains six additional songs, three live and three new studio tracks.Stay tuned as we gather more information. I can't deal

Klou 2,414
Isn't that better though? I thought that it meant more people were buying the full album? In Taylor's case I think it's just because so many damn people are buying her music. Gaga did sell a lot of digital albums of BTW, though, so it does seem to suggest more people were buying the album than the songs individually. Arturo 40,746
Definitely coming for Speak Now's weave. I was going to say "LOL that's not even that much" until I saw "TARGET ALONE" Just from one store in less than 24 hours?

MANiCURE1295 8,673
So far RED has a metacritic score of 77 from 9 reviews.
Tommymonster44 0
Yes. I would say it sold a solid 200K+ today alone. If it sold 100k at Target alone, I'm sure that it sold much more than 200k. It would make sense that the 100k would be replicated, if not exceeded, on iTunes. Plus, there are other major platforms such as Walmart, although I doubt that they sold the album half as well as Target did. And let's not forget about Amazon, who has discounted the album. I'm sure that the first day sales were simply massive and will slowly decline throughout the week.
Jake 0
This b---h She deserves it in my opinion. She works hard, writes all her own songs and really connects to an audience. And I'm really liking Red.
_Lam 597
Red album release success reminds me a lot of BTW album release. Did you guys already forgot how insane that day was. Millions of promotion everywhere. Taylor deserve it IMO ! Nice to see that it is possible to over achieve her last album. If Taylor can do it, Gaga could easily do it too for her next era ! :legend:

Lady Gaga doesn't have nearly as much momentum going into her next album like Taylor Swift did (in the United States.) She stumbled out of, not sprinted out of, the BTW era. Americano 31,061
Under-Repoted: Kanye West is DOMINATING the rap scene with his new era. Mercy went #1 on Rhythmic AND Urban. Clique, the follow-up, now rocketing up radio on both formats and could go #1 on both. Both went Top 20 on iTunes, which is very good for the rap scene right now. If Lady Gaga is actually experimenting with rap with her new era, she should chat it up with Kanye West and take some tips. They're friends.

She stumbled out of, not sprinted out of, the BTW era. Not quite sure I clearly understood what you said. But Gaga can definitely make it happen with ARTPOP again. She hasn't even officially started the era yet, the hype and all the promotion. If well handed, I don't see how she couldn't repeat BTW album sale success and Taylor Swift Red success too. Speak Now was clearly like BTW. A really great selling album but a bit of a momentum "letdown" for an artist that was incredibly too popular at it's beginning.
