#5 is a great position for it to debut. Shallow must have made some of you... shallow...wasn’t applause the last of her singles to debut so high? We’re talking 7 years. She’s doing great. Can’t wait for the next single

Applause debuted at #6.

Patrick Garcia

If Gaga had performed SL live on March 6th ou 7th, she wouldn't have such a terrible second and third week in the charts like she is going to. The only thing missing in the promo her team planned is one or two live performances in big tv shows (GMA and Ellen for example, maybe is smart to save SNL to when she has the entire album out). I believe a lot of people need live performances to get into a song and Gaga's live performances are always good. Maybe I'm delusional but I think one live performance in the first and second week would dissipate a lot of hate the song received and would make it become more stable on top10 for at least a month.

Also, the theme of the album (Chromatica being not only about colors but also about epigenetics) is actually pretty nice once epigenetics explain why LGBTQ people exist, so talking a bit about it with Ellen for example would be a serve.
