dynamite 59,246
Maybe the lead vocal says chain and the echoey vocal says shame because she wanted to make her own Yanny / Laurel situation Like a poem said by a neydy in red

Kween 2,696
There are official captions on the video and it says shame. Go and check it out for yourself
Delaney Elias 1,318
If you look up the lyrics, it says chain. The confusing thing is that she seemingly says shame in the video of her driving her car, maybe that is something she did because she wanted to? They both work tbh. The chorus is definitely meant to be ambiguous.

What I was trying to say is: even if the lyric was confirmed to be 'I want just to be love(d)', it would still make sense for the song to be called Stupid Love because of how clearly she sings that towards the end ('We got a stupid love'). KNJ 4,170
heal/kill chain/shame stupid love/just want to be loved I freak out...I get down ( describing one's dance style and/or feelings of anxiety and depression?) We all know shes a phrasing queen (Highway Unicorn? Heavy Metal Lover? Electric Chapel? Like 🤯) So leaning into these mondegreens and eggcorns is a very clever trick. ALL of these variations work. They help hide/express her pain and vulnerability inside a happy club banger. In conclusion...she's a genius "She's an intellectual, your honor"
