I feel like Dua is doing that currently, Don't Start Now is still peaking 5 months after it came out and she did a lot of performances, remixes, different versions and visuals  for both singles and had a promo single and we'll probably get a third single before the album comes out and hopefully more afterwards.

Definitely. Break My Heart is next. Then hopefully Cool or Hallucinate.

But is the public really interest or is it just promo after promo until it sticks.

Her first record had a lot of time to come before she started but it wasnt really an era.

.. Hm maybe u right. I just dont feel shes on the right caliber for her sophomore project. I do like her

I read 1991 thinking Azealia Banks :derpga: but as it's not, I disagree :enigma:

My only complaint is that Style was handled HORRIBLY as a single, and the video could have been so much better

also New Godmantics deserved a proper video, Out of the Charts should have gotten a tour video

who will love me when the night is over

Style wasn't EVEN promoted, it was just one performance in the Victoria Secret Fashion Show and then nothing.  I kind of like the video, ngl.

I would agree, but break up with your girlfriend imo wasn't a good single choice

Agreed! Literally not one bad single, and I knew all of them back when I was a local (she was so huge here like). 1989 is also the first album I illegally downloaded since it's not on Spotify. :billie:

I hate how Style, best song on 1989, was treated HORRIBLY like the promotion it had was a Victoria's Secret Fashion Show where it wasn't even a single yet, and the San Andreas movie one where the girl was playing it on her car (the beginning part, with the accident :poot:) It should've been her Firework or something, but yeah, she had to let Blank Space overshadow that godly song's success.

The two-month release date between singles is also a brilliant move, except for Out of the Woods (should've been earlier but well, Wildest Dreams was becoming massive)

Also I kinda wish she made it into a visual album... I've always wondered what the I Know Places video could have been, or AYHTDWS even.

I'm going to be honest, 1989 was the epitome of modern pop, and it had one of the best single choices.

1st, we go to Shake It Off, after the country masterpiece which was Red, Shake it Off brought a whole new image of Taylor Swift anyone has ever seen which was the persona of Taylor Swift as a popstar. The song was a palate cleanser and became arguably one of her biggest singles to date.

2nd, we go to Blank Space, after Shake It Off, they wanted her to be BIGGER and she made a HIT, using one of the most influential songs in modern pop.

3rd, we go slower with Style, it alone became one of her more known songs and it is a BOP and the best song in 1989.

4th, Wildest Dreams. Wildest Dreams is honestly one of the most radio friendly hits right here, so it was largely successful.

5th, Out of the Woods, it was successful due to its big connotations with her ex, Harry but enough about that, the video was also highly viewed

6th, Bad Blood, IT WAS BIG BIG, like the music video beat the 24 hrs record. Bad Blood was a QUEEN. Even though critically panned, it was so commercially successful, and ugh don't get me started with the posters.

7th, New Romantics, she didn't promote it, but it did well, considering it even charted top 40.

So there's my opinions. Although, justice for Welcome To New York not being a single.

Bad Blood is the 4th single, not the 6th
