I’m actually happy with the current Spotify numbers now. Image the song had absolutely no radio support in the US, we’d easily be pulling 800k-1.2M middays right about now. I’ll gladly take that 2.3M. It could be way worse than this. :laughga:

Radio has barely any correlation to streaming.

The song’s floor is being held by the playlists, she has an stellar support on Spotify. To me, it’s  alarming that she’s still falling despite being everywhere on the platform. Of course some positions could be better but what she got doesn’t correlate to being #30 WW and constantly falling. This means that people are not engaging with the song and they are not adding it to their personal playlists. Once these playlists are gone, the song is gonna free fall.

If we are relying on radio to boost streams, then we’re in for a huge disappointment lol.

However, the good news is that from those 5.6M streams, many of them should have come from people actively searching for the song and/or Gaga’s music (this is called Lean Forward consumption). There is interest in her, it’s just that this song didn’t click with the listeners as much as expected.

1. Pretty sure Z100 has SL at #29 on its new playlist; maybe I'm reading it wrong?

2. Can we please remember stations like Z100 and many others have mornings shows and don't start playing actual music until ~10AM at the earliest?

3. Where do people expect Spotify numbers to come in from at this point? Everyone keeps telling me that traditional promotion tools - i.e., a  *single* appearance and performance of the song - are dead and irrelevant to streaming. So, given that radio is JUST entering its first true week of playing the song on a pretty impressive rotation schedule, where was the GP supposed to have heard the song and decided to head over to Spotify? If we have established that she isn't an artist who has the capacity of getting stabilized streams that others like Ariana can, doesn't that mean that the success of a song on such a platform is *dependent* on some form of push once its first week is over and the core fanbase and those catching it from takeovers and digital promo have been worn out?

Like, this "decline" just seems totally understandable given everything that YOU guys have told me about Gaga's streaming power. We are less than 2 weeks in, radio has backed it like we couldn't dream, and she has yet to be seen in public, let alone out there promoting the song to give it some nudging. DSN continues to climb online as it rises on radio months into its release; now that big stations are going to be playing it at times other than, ya know, 4:00 AM, isn't it realistic to think that now we still start to see some upward trajectory that is correlated to the radio support?

Otherwise, I don't get the "performances are OVA" mentality. I know the Oscars are not an appearance on Ellen; but, like, let's not kid ourselves into thinking its #5 peak prior to that night would not have changed our expectations for this era. 1 performance did that.

I think it’s doing more than we think. I can totally see it being worse without radio support. If people hear it on the radio and like it I’m sure eventually go to Spotify to save it to their playlists.
