Reject False Icons 4,769
CTTR was the only political kinda song, the others were more social driven, I guess what was political was her attitude, and it was not very believable actually, anyway that’s my opinion

RAMROD 109,304
It was just not good, most her lyrics writings there, are just cringefest. She got the beats, some of it actually great, but those lyrics makes songs so mediocre. It was such a waste
calmar 22,055
Personally, I didn't like Witness because the songs were trite, bad, and sonically indistinctive. 俺の勝利は揺るぎない

StrawberryBlond 14,820
CTTR and Bigger Than Me are the only songs that are vaguely political. She did outwardly support Hilary and went on a support march for her, though. But then, Gaga did the same things and it didn't stop her having the beginnings of a comeback with Joanne. So I think it came down to mediocre songs that weren't as good as past hits. Just like Prism, bar one or two songs, there really wasn't much in the way of hit material. it's easy to forget that Prism only had 2 hits, the rest all flopped and the album was very ballad heavy which maybe put people off buying the next one (I honestly think Prism set her up badly for her next release because of this, a possibility that I've never seen anyone state before). As much as I disliked Bon Appetit and Swish Swish, honestly, they were the best chances for a hit from this album and I can understand why they were chosen because what other viable hits were there? I personally preferred Witness more than Prism, yet the public made Prism a hit, so that's the way the cookie crumbles. But let's not pretend that Katy's new Ellen cut, cringey promo and her young fans beginning to outgrow her wasn't part of the problem too. I'm concerned that her label are making her wait this long to release a follow-up. You don't wait this amount of time to make a comeback after an album that had such a bad roll-out. Her chances of succeeding decrease the longer she waits. If her fans grew out of her in 2017, they won't be here for her in 2020. Unless she just wants to make a whole new fanbase and appeal to people her own age.

WhiteWitch 720
I think the problem with Witness was that it was too “weird” for the GP. She left the girl next door vibe and hit the Gp with a Felicity situation, weirdly sexual lyrics, and mildly political tones in the first single. I enjoy the album quite a bit. But it was a heavy departure for the GP for sure
dynamite 58,656
Imo it was because she became cringy personality-wise, the album is forgettable and the lead single is trash, and Swish Swish was an embarrassment live... Dunno why others didn't love it tho Like a poem said by a neydy in red
