Like you said the infected numbers are not all reported + not everyone who gets sick gets symptoms + not everyone who gets symptoms, thinks its corona but think tis just the flu. If all the infected would be counted, the fatality rate would be even lower. Buy ARTPOP on itunes or smth?

Italy gets a lot of tourists too though and more concentrated in specific areas Also I heard them talking about the way South Europeans greet with the two kisses one on each cheak More Europeans also rely on stuff like public transit and on average their cities are more dense too (they may have fewer skyscrapers which misleadingly might make it seem other wise but they have way more mid-rises and apartments That stuff makes a difference. So it's perfectly possible for Italy to have more cases than the US It also only takes a few to potentially spread it to a lot. Pure bad luck is a factor too So I wouldn't assume the US is lying just because Italy has more announced cases. I'd look for more concrete evidence at the very least

JazzGa 14,654
I don't know why we are even trying "containment." It never works. Governments botch containment efforts every time, they're so pointless. We need to focus on preparing for the inevitable, providing good nursing care, practicing good hygiene, removing barriers for early treatment, etc. The virus is going to spread everywhere, there's no point in pretending like there is a possibility it won't. On a related note, it's f*cking pointless to tell people "If you have a little sniffle this year, just stay home from work for 2 weeks and get yo ass fired/don't earn rent!" People aren't gonna do that. Again, that's why we need to focus on good nursing care and hygiene and prepare for the inevitable. Zander 14,944
It's worth looking at this chart if anyone needs some reassurance. You'll notice the number of new cases are starting to plateau in China and overall death toll is over 3000 with over 45,000 recovered. Yes the outside China locations are rising, and they will do but through proper precaution it shouldn't get like china. Yes the tin foil hat conspiracy theorists could say China isn't being totally honest etc... but I roll my eyes at that.

What I’m also wondering is why there’s no news about the virus in Russia. It must’ve reached there with worse effects than in Europe
