I meant sensible panicking, like changing behaviours that increase risk, not hysterical panicking. The spread is inevitable. Common sense things like washing hands, covering your cough/sneeze with your elbow, avoiding touching people, avoiding enclosed spaces.

M’am that’s common sense practice. Not panicking.

We absolutely should not panic. Like rush buying masks n get them off stock for people who actually need them.

We should not panic. But I'm sure the coronavirus is much more dangerous than we are being told. I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I believe that we are not getting all available information about the virus, in order to not make us panic.

I agree. Strange how simple precautions can prevent it and the reported symptoms aren’t that different from the flu...

no, the influenza from 1918 was an aggressive strain which is the reason so many people died. the flu thats around nowadays is much less aggressive.

you're trying to spread fear when there is absolutely nothing to be afraid of.

The 18 doctors that first identified the virus have all died. But people have “absolutely nothing” to be agraid of :fthis:

Seasonal flu kills people who have compromised immune systems. It was a pandemic in 1918 when it killed 40 million people.

Coronavirus is killing perfectly healthy people. It is a pandemic RIGHT NOW.

Don’t be ignorant.

No it's not. That is misinformation. Please look at this graph provided by the BBC:

_111074816_death_ratio-nc.png

As you can see, less than one percent of all deaths have been in people under 50. Plus, less than one percent of ALL deaths have been from people in healthy conditions (but we need to realize the 60+ demographic is suffering the worse, as they are the ones with weaker immune systems, etc)

I think it's much more ignorant that you're blatantly ignoring actual science behind this virus and simply following the mass-media scare tactic that is USING people for clicks, views and ad revenue.

The best thing you can do is simply just wash your hands regularly, and don't touch your face- the same as any other winter virus. And of course limit your contact with vulnerable groups (ie, old people) if you show any type of flu symptoms.

i'm really scared. i don't want to die. i don't want anyone to die from this

You wont die, think about it as a slightly stronger flu. At your age, you're more likely to get struck by lightning than die from the coronavirus

No, actually 8 medical professionals in China have died from the virus. This is 8 deaths out of over 1700 infected medical staff.

Listen here sis. Doctors themselves are dying from Coronavirus. Can you imagine what could happen if doctors decide to STOP treating patients? This is what a pandemic is. Don’t give me your BBC graph when the people who are actually treating the disease face to face are dying.

yeah, i know. i keep worrying though because every single news station is making a big deal out of it and it's slightly concerning, but i usually try to remind myself that the flu has a higher death rate

Telling people not to worry about a brand new disease that has killed close to 3,000 in two months is morbidly grotesque. What is wrong with you?

In less than five months, the flu has killed 18,000 – 46,000 in the USA ALONE. Where is your outcry about this? - https://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/burden/preliminary-in-season-estimates.htm

8 people died. Yes, that is 8 people too much, but medical professionals die all the time from other viruses they treat.

I mean out of the almost 90,000 confirmed cases and the 2,942 deaths, that gives a 3% risk of dying

Out of 100000 people with the flu last year 6.5% of people or 6515 people had died

So take a deep breathe and relax. There is a bigger chance that you would die by a shark bite than the Coronavirus

I also think it’s strange, that if COVID-19 is really not anymore dangerous than the flu as some people claim, then why are the doctors and authorities seemingly much more worried about the coronavirus. Why are people from Wuhan, are city with millions of citizens, not allowed to leave the city? Why are people who have caught coronavirus not allowed to leave their home for 14 days? Why are hospitals making isolation areas for people who caught it? There's so many questions.

@Lord Temptation remember when Ebola(which was far more deadly than the corona virus) was a thing and it was supposedly going to kill everybody? It stopped being a thing after a few months and You and literally almost every person alive/infected back in 2014 are still here, healthy as can be

Just take a nice chill pill and realize tiny outbreaks like this happen all the time and that wayyyyyyy less than 1% of the planet has been infected
