Stupid Love For Millennials & Gen Z?

So Gaga has affirmed the LGBTQ audience. She has captured the hearts of millions with Joanne and ASIB that may or may not have been into her before (different audience). At this point in time, I really think Gaga and her team recognized that for future success, she needs to appeal to the younger generation who may not have been old enough to get into her before.

With Stupid Love, you have an instantly catchy, infectious song (even in its simplicity). You have a music video that is gif worthy, TikTok ready, and short enough for YouTube playlists. These 3 key factors are enough to appeal to the younger generation. Not to mention the head/face adornments she wears are making their way into memes and the like. She truly is so versatile.

This is one of the reasons I think SL is so polarizing. I'm 30 and I love everything Gaga does and will support her until my dying day. But I've always been with her since the beginning. SL is a way for her to appeal to a younger market by not being super complex, but still serving a fun song and video which many people will imitate and upload their version.

What do you think? Does Stupid Love feel different because it's meant to also appeal to a younger audience (like Taylor Swift's "ME!")? What are your thoughts sistren?

Also, stream Stupid Love on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Music, and buy 5, buy 10, but what you should actually do is buy 20! :vegas:

THIS. I feel like Gaga's team have a really good marketing strategy with LG6 this time and our girl is thirsty for a new hit. I can already tell it's going to be massive on TikTok.

I agree. With that said, the key is to appeal to a new market while not tossing your OG's away. So Im hoping the album will also have some more...mature elements and I wouldn't mind a curse word here and there :vegas:

I wonder about that. She said that making this album was more chilled compared to the other albums. It's just about making a song sound good without being too up in the ass about making it "art".

Yeah I wondered about that too regarding the Zane Lowe interview. I'm really glad she's become more confident in her first instinct with making music, but Im genuinely curious what this means for the rest of the album 🤔

I think you mean Generation Z, love. Gen X was born before Millennials / after Baby Boomers, while Gen Z is the current teenagers and early-20s age group.

I'm a Gen Z Gaga stan and most of my friends are quite neutral about Gaga in a sense that they won't  be like '' Ew you still listen to that? '' like most  of them have done when I mentioned artists like Katy Perry, Kesha, and even Taylor Swift. It's like if she makes a good song they'll most definitely listen to it, it just has to appeal to them. I've also met Gaga stans in my school that are my age ( 16 ) and i was shook.

I could see it.  Not a bad theory - but I still believe her when she says she just wanted to make fun music. I don’t know that it’s more than that.

She even said in her interview with Zane that Joanne she has a concept and a POV that she wanted to get across. This album is all just for fun.

Don't get this thread... You know Millennias are people born from 1981 to 1996? :huntyga:

Correct. And the Millennials born after 1989, imo, care more about TikTok and all that stuff way more than I do. Most don't even listen to radio, it all about streaming...instant gratification, etc.

My uncle (a metal fan and an old PUNK) loved the song and the video, yet my friends weren't so into it. :madge:

I also forced him into going to artrave with me and he loved it too :ally:

I totally get what you mean, but you cannot deny that the marketing for this album is a complete 180 to the Joanne "promo".

EDIT: She can make whatever album she wants, but people's jobs depend on her selling records. There's tons of people's jobs on the line and they need to sell a product and the best way to do that is to distribute and advertise it amongst mediums that those with buying power (millennial/gen Z) will do. And this will carry her forward in future eras.

That's because Gaga is the punk of pop girls (as one YouTube mv reactor said). She's transcendent :legend:
