Obviously she decided to go with simple in the sense of one location and few props. But that doesn’t depreciate how much work went into learning all of that crazy choreo and the time it took to make those costumes (so many different types). Personally, I think when you have all the money in the world to create a vid and you choose to do what she did, it’s not only ballsier, but it highlights how you’re a real artist that doesn’t just rely on your money to buy art- you make it. Yeah - this! Gaga has never been big on what surrounds her, it's always herself that drives a video or a song. That's what makes it timeless, though. Look at her Superbowl show. No fancy projections, no guests, no major special effects - just her performing her hits and doing it with charisma and energy and joy. Stupid Love is a great example of how it's HER power that brings up a video. Her dancing, her energy and her evident enjoyment is what lifts everything around it. Any pop star could roll out a stunning, high budget video with the greatest camerawork and effects - but then, isn't it the video that's great and not the artist? With Gaga, SHE'S the star. Always. subtext / fantasy
BalmungBard 715
The video is clearly camp, and to be honest we’ve been given hints to the campy era since the MET Gala, even Haus Labs is pretty camp too. Everyone hating on the song and video need to Listen to the Zane Lowe interview. she said that she wants to make an album that makes people happy and dance. It’s a really good interview and gives the insight to what to expect from the album and she even said that it’s not like her previous albums where she second guessed herself. And I’m glad that Bloodpop would let her cry on the balcony and then tell her “c’mon let’s make music stop the smoking tears and let’s create” for as much of troll as he is, it seems like he was really a good influence for her. Like, sure, of course it's her intention for it to look a little off and cheesy and campy. But you can do that effect successfully and professionally and you can do it unconvincingly too I feel like that distinction is lost on many fans here. Like, yeah, I'm sure everyone gets that this is supposed to be a love letter to retro-camp. But that doesn't mean she did it well. Know what I mean? I don't even understand why I have to explain this. Like, remember when we all hated on this video for good reason? (it's very similar to what Gaga tried to do) If we believe most LMs here today we'd have to convince ourselves this video was a genius piece of retro camp. But it's not. It's awkward and not very well executed. Just like SL is awkward and not very well executed I feel like LMs are applying a double standard again. If another pop star released the exact same video I feel like a lot more people would be saying what I'm saying: that, yes, whoever made it tried to be retro-camp but that we didn't get a good end result. I dont have to convince myself i actualy like it

Just tryna tell you that "people make up fale excuses to like it" is just nonsense. People like it because they like it, that's it I'm not annoyed, bothered or frustrated by your comments, and I'm not one who blocks people cuz we're on a forum, and posts about Gaga doesn't affect my life, wellness or mindset lol Since it's a forum I had the freedom to quote you and say I think you're post is quite entitled when you say people are making up excuses amd such. ChromaticPrincess 1,346
I thought it was perfectly fine. My biggest issue was that there just wasn’t enough going on. Like it was literally just her and the dancers in the middle of the cyber spaces 90s anime desert. That’s it lol. I had the same problem with one of the costumes too lol. All the other ones were fine but that one where it’s like a heart pasty but not really, i think there should’ve been more like maybe a skirt or another big ass belt or idk like “warrior” **** like armor idk but that one needed more. oh and yeah the plot was a little messy too but it was as bad as people here are saying I think it just needed, like I said earlier, “more to it”, like maybe a scene where she’s uses love and the power of dance to stop the fighting bc in the MV she stops the fight and then they’re suddenly dancing lol like it’s the same ppl but there’s no transition or explanation. Also yeah the shot on an iPhone 11 thing is clearly a sponsorship thing lol like Gaga would normally never but I’m okay with it because it means more money for her and more PROMO. other than that tho I think it’s cute, and we have to take it a face value. It’s a simple digestible pop song with a slight Gaga twist to it. I’m personally just happy she’s back to dance and pop, quite frankly and this, even if slightly underwhelming, maybe will serve as a sort of “re-introduction” of her pop star persona, so think of it as like a “re-birth”, I.e. it’s kinda like Just Dance in a way lol ✨oh the lights dim while we’re dancing yeah the floor is shaking in this disco heaven✨

The more I watch SL, the better it gets. That Ariana video is trash in comparison. And it can't be compared because it hasn't been recorded on an iPhone. Fantina 3,358
Some of yall don't understand the words being respectful. It is ok not to like everything Gaga does, but yall word it in a way that comes off really snobbish and trashy. Until then, this is Elvira saying unpleasant dreams. MrBlue 804
u guys are never happy. She actually can't please you all & that's a fact. Nothing that she will do will please you all. Just enjoy the positive stuffs. She released a song... a POP song (thing that a lot of people wanted) with good promo. She gave us visuals (& not classic visuals (I actually enjoy those but that was not what everybody was thinking)). Gaga is back & you (some of you) keep on being negative... I don't say you have to love everything she does.. What I do say however is that we should focus on the good & positive stuffs. Let's enjoy & support her & show her our (stupid) love.
