Queen Gloria 3,434
How could a Laura Palmer fan not love Lana??? Well, that's exactly why. I only got into Twin Peaks a few months ago and suddenly Lana made sense to me, haha. I imagine being Laura Palmer when I listen to her music, that made me enjoy her a lot more. dc1993 1
Well, that's exactly why. I only got into Twin Peaks a few months ago and suddenly Lana made sense to me, haha. I imagine being Laura Palmer when I listen to her music, that made me enjoy her a lot more. (can't remember which, but) There's an unreleased Lana track with a lyric about somebody climbing through her window every night... misanthrope 15
Interesting read from the article below: (no warning points please its just a critical a--lyzation of her persona) http://jezebel.com/5879929/why-do-you-hate-lana-del-rey-i-do-not-know-why-i-hate-lana-del-rey "THE PROBLEM, people, is not that she is bad. The problem is that she is not good enough to be on SNL, and she wouldn't be on SNL if it weren't for her exceedingly wealthy family buying her career for her. If she were this bad and playing at, say, an open mic night at a local venue, where she clearly belongs, no one would be criticizing her. They would probably be encouraging and say that she has potential, which she does. Her lack of talent is not what is offensive. The incongruity between the amount of fame she has and the amount of talent she has is what is offensive. The fact that she was allowed to appear on SNL, something that so many worthy artists couldn't achieve without working incredibly hard and for an incredibly long amount of time, is offensive. She is the daughter of domain squatter and millionaire Rob Grant. Grant's management chose her stage name, 'I wanted to be a band but the label I was with and the team I had around me absolutely wanted me to be a solo artist.' She was, quite literally, manufactured. Her father paid for a team of people (for five years to figure out the exact perfect combination of looks and name and sound that would be most successful today. He also paid for her marketing, for her to be on itunes when she barely has any music out yet, etc. No, money can't buy everything, but if it pays for enough hype, enough publicity, and a contract with a big or important label, it can get you very far (and on SNL). I genuinely believe the backlash against her is not only valid, but vital for the health of the music industry and, really, music as an art form. When we have "artists" like Katy Perry and Ke$ha at the top of our charts there comes a point where we have to say "enough, there is only so far froth and production and marketing will get you." I understand the appeal of people who are good performers, so I'm not trying to **** on Katy Perry. But I do believe we need to draw a line, because music is an ancient and important art form. When Lana Del Rey got it in her head that she could literally buy herself a career, she was not only ****ting on all of the less wealthy, more talented musicians in the world, she was ****ting on music itself." Really? I'm going to do my best to not believe that's true, but even if it is, Lana Del Rey deserves SNL a lot more than lip-syncing b---hes. Ashlee Simpson, anyone? Paper Planes 340
I'm going to do my best to not believe that's true, but even if it is, Lana Del Rey deserves SNL a lot more than lip-syncing b---hes. Ashlee Simpson, anyone? I completely agree. Lana Del Rey definitely deserved that spot on SNL. Was it a good performance? Perhaps not. But she definitely deserved it. I think this video clears up the comments saying that she was the worst performer ever. "The music stage on Saturday Night Live is hallowed ground, and I failed to reach the high bar set by past guests like Bubba Sparxxx, The Baha Men, and Shaggy." delete it fat
