He’s one of the most interesting directors out there, because he’s crazy into preparing and turn around time. Ridley is famous for his “Ridleygrams,” where he pretty much draws out the entire movie or will block out a majority of a scene by hand. This allows him to know exactly what he wants on set, so his productions are often quick and come in under budget. He also is quick in post, and he’ll often cut a movie so it’s two hours or less (he loathes long movies). I don’t expect this to take longer than two, two and a half months of Gaga’s time to shoot. It’s not a big sci-fi epic like Blade Runner or Prometheus (please watch both; they're AMAZING), it’s a simple biopic hell whip up quick. He’s amazing. He's one of my favourite directors and a true legend. But yeah he has a great reputation for doing really fast under budget shoots. He’s so quick it’s insane... he re-shot basically the entirety of All the Money in the World in less than two weeks after the Kevin Spacey scandal, and he’s in the process of shooting a film right now... the fact that he’s ready to shoot Gaga’s movie in Q4 is a testament to his work ethic. People thinking you can prepare, film and promote a full movie in few weeks are just delusional. Unfortunately, he can make also major bombs, but most of the time is due to a bad screenplay more than his direction. If the script is good, there is no way he can't wrap up a well crafted movie.
