I guess I’m surprised at how gray and cold it looks considering the motifs of the album (colorful, happy songs). And what’s the story with this? She’s getting crushed by the Chromatica symbol, and she’s in a battle uniform. Fighting a losing battle for kindness? It’d be cool for her to explain the concept, since the artwork implies a deeper, more sinister story. I hope she delivers the high concept promised by this cover, if anything. Probably because his verse was slapped on to the beginning of the version with R. I mean the album itself is about healing, is about pain and the process of trying to see the light. I can see why she made the artwork dark rather than colorful. She's on an armor cuz she's been battling for her life, fighting for her happiness, so I can imagine this album being really personal and deep, also obscure and as real as she can get, since on the lyrics she teased on the Paper Mag she talks about her usage of medication, femeninity and how she feels as a woman right now, also I think she will talk about her rape more openly now, since this album is all about healing, but to heal first you must suffer and feel the pain, which is why I think the album cover is dark and not colorful, she's a warrior crushed by her own thoughts and how she sees life (chromatica symbol), because to create a new world where you can feel at ease, first you have to get rid of the weight of all of your ideas, your thoughts, your happiness, your pain, your tears, and life itself, which can crush us all sometimes.
