Social Media Murders Trans Woman

The murder of a homeless Trans woman has sparked outrage on social media. Alexa Torres suffered from mental illness and she was very shy and guarded after she experienced assaults from many people. She would walk around with a mirror to watch her back to see who was following her or making fun of her. One night a man by the name of Carlos Javier Fret decided to fabricate a false story about Alexa claiming she was in the bathroom trying to look at women through the bathroom stalls while his wife and daughters were in the bathroom. The police was called on Alexa and the mans wife decided to press no charges so he goes on social media and basically incites the murder of Alexa. 

After Alexa was murdered he deleted his post and deactivated his social media and people were quick to call out his fishyness. The many people that knew Alexa gave accounts of her being shy and guarded because she has bed been the victim of sexual assault, her mirror was her protection this man created a fantasy in his head and stuck with it as if it were reality. Alexa would go into bathrooms and express her feelings on the mirrors, she would write messages Like these "Never abandon or mistreat your kids mentally/ physically, please."

"I always wanted to travel, Not like this..." She was homeless and traveling by foot around the island to survive

"No me ofrezcas solo comida, habla conmigo, dame amor calor. La chica de negro mini falda andante.”

Translation "Don't just offer me food, converse with me, give me warm love. The walking chick with the black mini skirt."

This is a picture of the day the police was called on her for using the women's bathroom.

This is a picture of her walking around with her mirror Knowing people were following her and taking pictures of her. 

This is a video of a young man who would constantly look for her and he would feed her and make her feel accepted. I feel sorry for him I can only imagine what he is going through at this moment. There's more videos of him helping her and talking to her below is a picture he took with her he covered his face. 

This picture of her make me cry, Thinking of how  helpless she was and there were people out there who cared for her. Seeing her smile and to think some asshole decided to defame and hurt her because she was trans.

These is footage of her last moments proving her murder was a hate crime and it shows that the culprits could easily be tracked down but the Puerto Rican police system is so ****ed up that most likely there will be no justice.

In the video you can hear men in a car calling out to her and she avoids making contact with them. They tell her they're gonna shoot her. They pull of and one of the guys makes a bet that he's gonna shoot her. The next clip you can her them shooting at her. 

Im extremely devastated by this it has me shook to the core, I've been crying since yesterday while I continue to see posts about her. Im slightly glad that the Puerto Rican community is disgusted by this but at the same time I feel like crap just knowing that social media really led to the death of Alexa. False information makes waves first and the truth comes second. In this scenario the truth came out too late.

This world makes me sick. She just wanted to live freely. That's all she ever wanted. What is so wrong and f*cked up about straight people that they can't just let us (LGBT+) be? By murdering and threatening her, what do they gain? And they claim to be the followers of the so called Gods who is supposed to be good and just? Is this what goodness, kindness and justice  looks like? Praying for her. May she rest in peace and found eternal happiness that wasn't given to her in this world. RIP Alexa.

I hope her family chooses to bury her how she saw herself. A lot of people online are wondering where her family is and what their plans are for their funeral. I'm scared they're gonna cut her hair and make her look like a man.

Im sorry but I disagree with what you said, you misgendering her is disrespectful. You are new to Gagadaily I don't know how seriously to take your comment. Yes mental illness is an issue that needs to be addressed within the Trans community. That is why many people go through years of therapy. Puerto Rico does not have those resources for people and that is why there is such an outrage. Alexa was who she wanted to be, her depression was because of what people had done to her and what she was going through. As for some trans people being perverted there is a possibility, If people feel like a trans person has perverse intentions then they have the power with their phones to record the events and prove what they claim. These people did no such thing. They took pictures of her and spread their story. After she was murdered they deleted the posts and their accounts which screams there's something fishy there.

Truly tragic I know, Let's just do better and spread her story. People need to learn to take online gossip with a grain of salt because social media has become toxic and extremely dangerous for marginalized groups of people. Just like there are bubbles of ignorance throughout the countries in the world, the internet gives anyone the power to make up a story and it can cost some body who is innocent their life.
