Bloomberg humiliates disabled reporter

If Michael Harris felt humiliated, it was well deserved.  That was very unprofessional for a reporter. Bloomberg was correct to stop the press conference and wait for the music to be turned off. It would have even been appropriate if security had removed the reporter and his music playing device.

I have seen live talk shows that stop people from even saying a few words of song lyric with the words "we can't afford to pay for that".  Bloomberg probably wanted news outlets to be able to run video and audio of his comments, without worrying about paying to license music that was playing in the background.

It was only a minute, I don't even know why this is news. Trump imitated palsy at the podium. Bloomberg expected a professional reporter to turn off music during his speech. This doesn't even compare.

(This does not indicate that I am supporting Bloomberg as a candidate.)

DNC tailored the rules for Bloomberg. If he wins the nomination I don't think a lot of people will turn out for him. Tbh

Yes, he is. He was a Republican for six years. Other than that, he’s been a lifelong Democrat and was Independent for longer than he was a Republican.

So he’s party fluid :reductive:

Yes, hes already second place in the polls! But after that horrible debate, hopefully he will go down in the polls. But Bloomberg is spending more money on his campaign than all Democratic candidates + Trump combined.

He’s been buying so much ad space... I’ve actually been getting bombarded with ads about him for the past week or so, it’s ridiculous.

My my, you think disabled people being paid to do a job should be able to f*ck up the job, doing it very badly, without feeling humiliated. News for you, working people don't get a free pass because of a disability. They are expected to be productive and do the job professionally, just like anyone else paid to do a job.

Did it ever cross you mind that maybe this person could have done it on purpose as an act of sabatogue?  I certainly don't know.

It was an accident and this situation should have been handled in a less digrading manner someone should have helped him i cant believe you are so insensitive towards disabled people and if you think that its oke to humiliate and single out disabled person for something that accidently happend than that means there is something seriously wrong with you

Bloomberg isn't the best candidate, but I still prefer him over Trump by a landslide. Bloomberg would actually try his best to deliver what he says. Im here for ANY democrat over Trump.

Yeah, I expect professional work out of a person.  He could have asked for help, if he didn't.  Did he ask for help when he needed it?

I worked in a call center once. I had been there some months, when a woman in a wheel chair started working. The woman in the wheel chair could only talk. She had a helper that did all of the typing. The rumor was that the government paid the assistant so that the disabled person could work. After about 2 weeks the duo wasn't at work anymore. There was no rumor about what happened.  I can tell you that 2 people splitting 1 paycheck would have been less than minimum wage, though the rumor was that the government paid the assistant wages. I never met the woman. We weren't on the same team and did not break at the same time.

Just last week there was a (mentally) disabled 20 something year old at the swimming pool. He flipped the bird :fthis: at everyone for at least half an hour. His swimming entailed splashing down so hard that the water flew 6 feet in the air and 8 feet out. No-one said a word to the 20 year old. I was swimming laps in his splash radius and said nothing.  But you know the way he was going on stirring things up, a few people stared, like the parents waiting for their kids swim lessons to finish.  It's what he wanted, I guess.

About as much as Bernie or Trump is.

Not really.

Democrats and Republicans have different core beliefs and to an extent values.

Trump and Bloomberg's have always aligned with Republicans. Trump flipped his such as his previous pro-choice stance to fit the party, Bloomberg is going to run as a Democrat despite not changing his values or beliefs.  Both of them are united in a corporatist ideology, and just use political parties as a way of getting power.

Bernie has always been a friend of the Democratic party, and caucuses with them. He is a leader in the senate despite being an Independent because people in congress consider him part of them. More importantly, his values have been consistent, and his policies are aligned with Democrats, though throughout the years mainstream democrats have become increasing corporatist and have abandoned their roots in working class advocacy, union advocacy, etc.

If you only care about who has had a D by their name the longest, then what the D means is shallow and uncritical and that's how you get people who do NOT represent the Democratic party's beliefs able to run as Democrats.

Furthermore, it gives credence to the general idea that Democrats and Republicans are fundamentally both the same at the end of the day which is a belief held by most people - Independents outnumber Dems and Republicans.

Nominating Bloomberg would destroy any sort of moral high ground or value system Dems claim to represent, which in practice reduces our 2 party system even further.

Please dont generalize disabled peaple not all of them act like this and it also doesnt mean that this reporter was like this and i understand that you want someone to be Professional but that doesnt mean that someone deserves to be humiliated when the accidently make a mistake
