Massive Monster 5,047
THANK YOU! 100% agree about Born This Way the song (not all songs from the album have aged well, or were ever particularly good in the first place). But Born this Way the song is so rich, layered and yes... well mixed. It's sonically BIG. There's so many things to love about the instrumental: the unsettling and off-tone string section at the start (and before the talk), that futuristic synth that kicks in at 0:07 and that we can hear throughout the song, and that church bell that rings twice I believe during the song (first time at 0:35). Gaga's voice had never sounded so good when it was released, she had us shook. Very inspired by Whitney Houston. The lyrics were so bold and beautifully explicit. But unfortunately "Chola descent", "You're Lebanese, you're Orient", have maybe not aged well. I get exactly what she means by saying that it doesn't matter who you are and where you are from, you are a superstar... But this choice of words is controversial. All in all though, fine mugler-wine Kind regards
Jose P 23,341
YES YES YES YES It will forever remain one of the most exhilarating, powerful, and ambitious albums ever. Including the title track. Whoever doesn’t like it or thinks it’s “aged badly”...sweetie I’m so sorry
Sassy McSass 814
Though it’s undeniable that this song is a LGBTQ+ anthem, I’ll just point one more reason why it’s so important and it’s message is timeless: I’m a heterosexual cis woman and still when I saw her sing this song at the Super Bowl I had tears in my eyes. I have a really hard time accepting my flaws, my big nose, my not so great body, what I think I did wrong in my life, what I think I should have done, etc, and with Born This Way comes this incredible message of it’s ok being just who you are. That God makes no mistakes and you can be what you wanna be. In a world of pain this fills me with hope. I’ll keep looking for Wonderland
